Joining in on some “organ jazz” fun with the Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD of Baby Face Willette “Face to Face.” Sounds awesome. The system is just amazing me of late. 8. Re: Pepper Adams I found this (easily, those here may have read this) on this page: https://richardvacca.com/tom-wilson-and-transition-records/ Other projects were recorded but never released. There was a Boston quintet co-led by tenor saxophonist Jay Migliori and trumpeter Tommy Ball; one track was issued on a sampler LP and the rest has yet to emerge. One track survives from a Dave Coleman date featuring baritone saxophonist Pepper Adams and violinist Dick Wetmore. A Paul Chambers session included Adams, John Coltrane, and trombonist Curtis Fuller. Complete session tapes have never surfaced.
  9. Jim Cooper with Ira Sullivan “Nutville” Delmark cd
  10. Milt Jackson, Joe Pass, Ray Brown “The Big 3” Pablo cd I forgot how darned good this is.
  11. Another very cool morning. . . with a bright moon. I wanted to sleep more but Fiona the dachshund had other plans. Starting off the day with the new cd from the daughter of two of my favorite musicians, Dora Morelenbaum. Her father and mother, Jacques and Paula were instrumental in so much of the Brazilian music I love. Nice, contemporary recording . . . more “MPB” than her parents’ musics but I’m enjoying it. Dora Morelenbaum “Pique” Mr. Bongo cd 500×500 40.4 KB
  12. Keith Jarrett “Treasure Island” Impulse reissue LP 500×500 47.3 KB Sam Brown!

  14. Yazz Ahmed “Polyhymnia” cd 300×300 15 KB
  15. “Ella and Basie” Verve cd Just elegant and smoothly swinging. And sounding so good this morning!
  16. Hank Mobley “Workout” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD 1074×1085 173 KB I think we’re entering our Indian Summer, and the moon is so bright! Followed by Forgot I had bought this box set and had only listened to “Hejira” twice before setting it aside. So. . . Joni Mitchell “Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter” is playing now. I always forget how domineering Jaco Pasorious is on this album. I wish he had been a bit more. . . toned down. My favorite track remains the beautiful beautiful “Silky Veils or Ardor.” Just an amazing performance. The highlights of this album for me are Joni’s beautiful guitar playing and her layered vocals when she overdubs. One of my friends once told me “Hell would be three discs of ‘Paprika Plains’ alternate takes.” I get his point but I do like “Paprika Plains”–and the piano playing sound so good here. John Guerin’s drums have always impressed me on this album. For some reason this listen he his work reminded me of Sonny Greer’s. This reissue revives the alternate, non-controversial, new cover. 315×315 35.6 KB
  17. I started watching it but had to stop and go off somewhere with my wife. I will get back to it soon. I love this show. My wife finds Carrie Preston annoying and won't watch it. I think she's a great actor, as is her husband. I bet they have a hoot together.
  18. A dry morning . . . so far! Cold, I put a blanket on the bed for the first time last night. But we slept good! Need something sweet and gentle to start the day. . . . Blossom Dearie “Soon It’s Gonna Rain” Fontana Japan SHM-CD

  22. Wow, I'm glad that power has been restored. Six days. . . I have been without power for seven days before, and five after that, and not because of a hurricane, one was because of a heavy snow, and the other time a wind storm. I live in a sparsely housed wooded area and the power pole in the vacant wooded lot between my house and the next house two acres away was snapped both times. Both times when it fell it tore the wires off my house wall and once damaged our master panel. That pole just feeds two houses, as there are about 100 more trees than houses in my neighborhood it took a long ling time to get to us. . . they did repairs to everyone else first. And it always happens in the winter when it is COLD and being without heat and water is BAD. If a hurricane were to somehow hit here. . . I think I'd be out for weeks! Glad you are all safe. That's what is really important.
