  1. I hear you. Would have been a great opportunity to put out two or three Lateef two-fers! I guess we could hope that there will be more releases and Gentle Joseph may have one or two in a future batch.
  2. Can't say I prefer the new bonus material to the original album. I love that album so much, and the new stuff is great, but doesn't have that same impact on me, with no history. I got the first Mahavishnu Orchestra because I had encountered and attempted to digest his work with Miles Davis. For a while I had four distinct sort of listening things going: electric Miles (up to about "In Concert" and "Get Up With It"), the more mainstream fusion works of Herbie and Chick etc., the rock material (mostly blues-rock and psychedelic) and the beginning of an investigation of jazz and blues. Quite a time! My love of music and collecting really solidified.
  3. I don't know. . . I've lived with all but the Lost Trident and bonus material for what. . almost a full four decades? I like it all, and see it all as a progression, yes embracing more and more of the rock sound as it went along, I came into it still enamored with the rock world, and that was their meat and potatoes market. The material on Lost Trident that appears on BNAE seems more realized to me, though I do like Lost Trident the more I hear it (I bought the now deleted cd when released). I think Birds of Fire has very strong jazz elements, and really I love the energy of BNAE, I think I have played those sides more than any other over the years. I like John playing with sort of wild fire more than the later "jazz" playing myself.
  4. Well, we know they could. Let's hope they haven't.
  5. Many many happy returns!
  6. Okay, sorry I missed that* and thought it was the Trane disc. No idea about the Getz. As I have the track in error elsewhere I didn't pursue it with an email inquiry. *I hope that means I'm finally going senile. Been looking forward to it.
  7. I just supplied him with the email address. I don't have an answer to that question, I haven't received an answer. I initially received an email response by contacting Hip-O Select through their website. I got a few email responses the last of which was in early December saying "the disc will be repressed in January." I sent an email recently asking if it had been repressed but have not received a response.
  8. Sent you an email.
  9. I was told the replacement disc was to be pressed this month. I sent two emails to the producer this month and haven't heard back. (He was responsive before).
  10. I've just watched the latest episode of a very cool show on Velocity called "One of a Kind" where they feature unique vehicles. This segment was about a vehicle commissioned by Norman Granz, a '54 Cadillac that was fitted with a custom-made cabriolet body by Italy's Pinninfarina coach-makers. Just gorgeous!
  11. Encore was also a cd all on its own from Savoy/Denon, from 1993 or so.
  12. Lon, then you don't have the Sonny Clark Memorial Quartet then? Give it a try. I've heard it. Don't feel a need to own it.
  13. That's definitely not a part of my classifications. I am not a Zorn fan and don't own any of his recordings. . . .
  14. Never much paid attention to the cover. Good music though.
  15. I have them all but the Dinah Washington. I bid on that, but I'm not going to spend a lot!
  16. I just saw that another episode of The Good Wife is scheduled for Feb. 19. I agree John, this is excellent network television.
  17. Excuse me? I'm sending them a package of QTips.
  18. Agreed! Didn't realize it was the season finale.
  19. The pizza on the roof . . . amazing. One take!
  20. I'll be damned. That's the influence I couldn't figure out! Now that I've had it pointed out, it's so obvious I feel like an idiot. LOL! Yes, it's quite visible. Which is not a bad thing.
  21. Larry, sorry you had this experience. I've never had this happen to me in dozens of orders.
  22. Yes, Ploog worked for a spell with Will Eisner and it really shows in his work. (I'm a huge Eisner fan). Too bad he only penciled four issues of Ghost Rider I think.
  23. I don't have a lot of experience with headphones as I really don't LIKE to listen via headphones. (In part because in the final years of the 'eighties I did a lot of recording of bands I was in and did a lot of critical listening and monitoring on headphones and really burned out on the sound and feeling). My Dad bought me a pair of B&O A8 headphones six years ago to use with my iPod and computer, which at that time was the major source of my listening, as we were living in another city on and off for my late wife's medical treatment. These work really well with the iPod, they are sonically very capable. Recently I tried them with the headphone output of a cd player and was quite impressed. They're a cool design and reasonably comfortable. They're the only headphones I've owned since I received them and I don't feel the need for another pair. (But then again, I'm far from a moderate or heavy headphone user.)
  24. I've been using Worlds for years. Sometimes there's a delay, it's a one or two man operation and things happen. I always order enough to get free shipping. I'm pretty patient as I always have way too much to listen to! I think they're a great resource and I support them.
  25. Just for fun and to bring out the inner biker in me.
