  1. Many many happy returns Jon!
  2. Watching Californication backwards this month, watched Season Four, then Season Three and now Season Two.
  3. Yes. Re-reading this, after re-reading A Princess of Mars a few books back.
  4. Joyeux anniversaire!
  5. Well, I won't argue with you about any of that. I will say this disc sounds better than their other Basie discs.
  6. The Definitive release "The Kid From Red Bank" has the '38 and '39 and more and the sound isn't too bad.
  7. Looks as if the '38 tracks are included in Vol. 8 of the Masters of Jazz series, which is likely to be in great sound, and actually looks available at a few places.
  8. I actually have liked this season of Fringe almost as much as last season. I think the main problem is that they left "Peter Bishop" out of the storyline for a good chunk of the opening of the season, and the show just flat needs him there. And then there's the "monster of the week" X-Files bit I could do without (that is what mars Alcatraz thoroughly for me) that they slip into. I think when this comes back though it should be a big story arc, and it looks promising to me considering recent developments. We'll see. Even when it's not at the top of its game Walter and Astrid keep me watching, I really like those characters and the actors make them come alive.
  9. Great news! Thanks!
  10. To be reissued by International Phonograph, in a three cd set!
  11. Some info here: http://www.propermusic.com/product-details/Various-Artists-Charlie-Parker-Records-Complete-Collection-119188
  12. Re-watching this one. I think it's the funniest season.
  13. Guy, glad you are on the other side of that bout! It's really nice to log in and see Jeff posting again. Thanks for coming back to us amigo!
  14. I was just going to add that I listened to the cd from the box set and I agree, it's corrected.
  15. I have her on a tape of the Merv Griffin show in Rio that includes an interview with Jobim in his study (thanks JimR!) and her daughter was also interviewed, she had just won "Miss Ipanema." Lovely women.
  16. Many many happy returns!
  17. Watched the first show of a new NBC drama called "Awake." (Watched it "on demand" --- the premier airs March 1.) Not bad, will see how they develop it. A homicide detective is living two parallel realities in the aftermath of a car accident involving himself and his wife and son. In one reality, he and his wife survived, in the other he and his son survived. In each reality he has a different partner on the job. As it's science fiction on network tv, it could go terribly wrong, but I'll watch and see what develops.
  18. Me too. I love his music though.
  19. Hope it's a great one and many happy returns!
  20. Welcome back Jeff! We missed you!
  21. We all know it was Mary Shelley.
  22. I'm just noting cd's value as a storage media is similar to vinyl's in this respect. (As to how this works, nuclear attack can cripple electronic equipment even far out of the pulverizing range, as can other weapons I believe). If we face such a situation, there are many many problems we'll face, and only to music-loving maniacs is this going to be a paramount one. . . . . (If the shoe fits, wear it. Make mine a negative heel.)
  23. I can definitely see digital files being damaged by a magnetic storm, but if such a storm wiped clean cds, why wouldn't they wipe clean lps? Both have the information stored mechanically so to speak, not "electrically" or magnetically.
  24. Many many happy returns John!
