  1. Good move Al.
  2. Things are looking up! I was in a position to make a generous (I thought) donation and did. I think that the financial part of the equation will be easy to solve, and the moderation volunteer issue should also prove to be a small hurdle at most. Win win on the way I think! No trips to Chicago for me, but have fun!
  3. Those lunches sound great! I don't have those same options here! But I make do. I remember the few days I spent in Roma in 1971 very fondly. . . .
  4. porcy, I went to lunch at a place called "Hog Island Deli" about five blocks away (nice walk there and back). Got what they call the "Old Italian Hoagie." Pretty darned good! http://www.hogislanddeli.com/
  5. No ballgames for me. . . but as for dogs. . . yellow mustard is fine, and any type of onions (grilled, fresh and diced). Or chili cheese and onions. I'd be hungry if I hadn't just finished a long "Italian" hoagie!
  6. Yes, Shawn made sure I dug these two Richardsons as well! (Many moons ago).
  7. Dusty Groove has it now too, or did have it, something like that. I got it from France a while back and have really been enjoying it. I'd love to have a domestic reissue, expanded (at one time it was going to be a two cd set) but the word from Cuscuna (via Belden) is: not planned at this time.
  8. That's really true JS. Jim A, thanks for the post last night. There are lots of persons posting good suggestions here, and I bet there are persons sending you messages and paypal donations as well. Here's hoping we can keep the ship in the wind. If not, whatever transpires, just know that the moderation of this board has made it THE place for me. I've even been banned from another board in part by always stating I "prefer" this board. The philosophy and practice of moderation held and performed by you and the other moderators should be an example to every board in the world. On top of that, in the last two years or more when my personal life was one series of difficult experiences after another, this board was an anchor and a comfort for me that I needed AND appreciated. Best of all to all from here forward.
  9. Welcome Mr. B! I'm very glad you posted. I agree with your recommendation and praise of this set!
  10. Promotonial copies are not numbered. . . . I think they send these out in order. My friend Dave got his also yesterday, he preordered his the same day I did, but later in the day, and he got set 109.
  11. Listening to disc one of set #00038 right now.
  12. I'm . . . who I always claimed to be. lonjazz@yahoo.com JIM, if this goes along as stated, all I want to say is. . . THANKS!
  13. "Roberto Gordo" (aka Robert LeGras) is my nickname for my new motorcycle, a 2008 Harley Davidson Dyna "Fat Bob."
  14. I did enjoy the forum at www.speedingarrow.net . . . a couple of familiar faces there too.
  15. Not really. . . won't have the time for a while. . . but there are items (mainly 78 releases) that are not in the individual discs.
  16. I guess Texas is further away than the UK. . . haven't gotten my set yet!
  17. Yes, there are things in those box sets not in the individual discs. . . ten percent or less I would say from memory.
  18. Dat's a fact Jack! Er. . . I mean Dan. I'm sure Allen does amazing work for that double sawbuck!
  19. Aloc, congratulations and keep it up! This was not a good year for me, the nicest thngs that have happened to me this year have all been because of friends and famililes pitching in with love and assistance.
  20. I've been downloading concerts off of various web-sites, and sometimes it takes awhile to download. I've downloaded for more than twelve hours to get a show. You're going to have to get a Bit torrent program, I use BitTorrent, I find that it's easy to use, and the new 6.0 program is very good. ABC BitTorrent is another program that's good. I haven't download off Dead.net, but Lon has, so maybe he'll pipe in with his thoughts. I'm really enjoying downloading the various concerts, there are some outstanding quality d.l.s out there, so buy yourself a couple of hundred blank cds, and have fun. Actually, to my knowledge, I haven't downloaded flac from dead.net nor have I ever done flac; when I had the time I didn't have enough highspeed and never mastered the process. I have purchased all the "Digital" Dead official releases featuring the band through the Godchau years, but from iTunes.
  21. I'd ask them, I'm not sure of the current status of the booklets. I bought the bookes and received tthe discography from them, but it was years back.
  22. I'll second the notion that this is a great session! I don't have the new reissue but the earlier cd version which I've had for a long time. . . great stuff!
