  5. The incorporation of OJC under the Universal umbrella may only apply in Italy. Still, we do have imports. Not true. See the link in the original post.
  6. There's a night of a duo with Brotzmann. Not that Brotzmann's a shrinking violet...
  7. OK, Keiji Haino's coming to Houston soon, so I guess I'd better bone up on him, as I know nothing of his work. Is he just a Brotzmann on guitar? Any titles you can recommend? Sorry for hijacking the Coryell thread.

  9. Coryell's vocals ruined this album: But strangely enough, I saw/heard him do two concerts around this time of this material, and he did not sing. Very wise; the band was burning.
  10. Happy birthday, and many more!
  11. Release date October 15:
  12. Another vote for the Mulligan; I thoroughly enjoy it. Don't overlook the Cohn, Newman and Green if you like Basie-type small group swing. I wish I could love the Bechet more, but there are too many alternates for my tastes. And a big thumbs up for Art Blakey - Hard Bop; probably the best of the Jackie McLean sessions, with beautiful sound.
  13. Could you please provide a link? I don't see it available at cdjapan.
  14. How an effort to popularize classical music undermines what makes orchestras great. New Republic
  15. I saw him once at Bradley's, in a duo with George Mraz. I was fortunate to sit close to the stage, because the crowd was conversing so loudly that I could barely hear the music. Why go to a place like that when all you want to do is talk?
  16. Anyone remember That Was The Week That Was?
  17. The White Album.
  18. There's also this:
  19. Oh yeah, I was at this:
  20. I do miss mix tapes. I thought they required a lot of creativity and ingenuity. Nowadays I can just create a playlist in iTunes and burn that to disc, but it's too easy - the romance of the endeavor is missing. A friend of mine made great mix tapes. This is one of them:
  21. I remember that when I first bought cassette blanks, the cases came with two holes in them, one on each of the short sides. I never knew what they were for, until I went to a friend's house. He had a pegboard from which it was designed to hang cassettes: a rod was passed through the two holes in the cassette case. You would flip through the rods to see your collection.
