  1. Mentioned in posts #29 and #32 by Mssrs. Sangrey and Tapscott, respectively. Most of the greats have been included already, but there are some (all greatly admired by yours truly) who haven't yet been mentioned: Jack Jenney (famous for his solo on Stardust w/Artie Shaw, acknowleged influence of JJ and Fontana) Vic Dickenson Trummy Young Willie Dennis Hal Crook Tommy Turk Eddie Bert Butter Burgess Britt Woodman Quentin Jackson .....and don't forget our esteemed board member Greg Waits! EDIT: Holy crap, I just realized no one's mentioned SLIDE HAMPTON yet! One of the greats for sure........ What about that McKee dude? Can he play his way out of a closet?
  2. just got back from Vegas. 102/daytime 85/nighttime ... but it's DRY heat.
  3. Just saw those at Amoeba today. Looked interesting, but like the rest of you, I'll wait for sale pricing on the deluxe sets.
  4. The lineup for this year's HSBF is online now. Another astounding collection of artists - mark your calendars.
  5. That Cropper/Cavaliere album is the surprise "hit" of the year, IMO.
  6. Hey, Noj, I've been on a blues jag, too. There's lots of good stuff on eMu. Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Deborah Coleman (check her out), Luther Allison, Jimmy Dawkins ... to name a few. I would even toss in the Jack Bruce/Robin Trower album - very bluesy.
  7. Nice leasure suit, Stan!
  8. That's it?? I've probably got 700-800.
  9. I'm sure it's easy to get "boxed out". Started playing with the RP250 tonight. Way too complex to understand in one sitting.
  10. Fantin-Latour Gerhard Richter
  11. Well, I ordered the RP250. Amazon had a vendor who was selling them for $129. Couldn't resist. I'll let you know how it is when I get it.
  12. I don't think Roger Dean counts... http://www.rogerdean.com/ "Made popular through the medium of album covers and posters his work, including posters, cards, books and album covers etc., has sold in excess of sixty million copies world-wide." Nope.......he's OUT.
  13. Checked out disk #3 yesterday.....much better!
  14. Is Roger Dean famous for anything other than album covers? If not......does he "count"?
  15. Saw that.........REALLY sorry I can't be there.
  16. I've got a Pocket POD, which I like. Since I've already got that and a small Line 6 amp, I'm looking for something a little different. The modeling pedal is a definite plus, too.
  17. Just got back from seeing the "Birth of the Cool" art show at the Oakland Museum. Lots of jazz-related stuff, of course. This album cover shot by Richard Avedon was featured.
  18. Anyone use multi-effects boxes? I'm looking at the Digitech RP90 ($100) and RP250 ($150). Also, the Zoom G1 ($80) and G2.1U ($170). Both of the higher end versions have USB connections that let you modify your effects on the PC. FWIW, I'm leaning towards the RP250.
  19. That used to be available on eMusic, but doesn't seem to be there any more.
  20. Been hearing good things about this and the clips sound good - I just DL'd it.
