The Patti Smith show was very good. She's not even on tour, but was travelling back from Australia with her band and wanted to do an Arthur Rimbaud birthday celebration, so she booked the date.
Did 2 hours + 1/2 hour encore. Very entertaining.
Forgot about Mahavishnu. I'm sure those concerts I saw were EXTREMELY loud for their time.
More recently I've seen Radio Birdman a couple of times in club situations, and those shows were pretty ear-bleeding (although I was definitely wearing ear plugs).
Jeff Beck Group, Foghat, Argent - Hollywood Paladium, 1972.
"Technically" it may not have been the loudest show, considering improvements in PA systems over the years, but it sure felt like it at the time.
This is a surprisingly strong album from start to finish. It really doesn't sound like a bunch of left-overs.
Well worth picking up for any Fotheringay/Denny/Fairport fans.
