  1. Yep. Definitely worth getting the box.
  2. Jeff Beck, Nils Lofgren ...
  3. Hope you had a GREAT one, B!
  4. I have that on vinyl and always liked it a lot. It's the reason I would get the Mosaic box.
  5. There are some stations here in SF that are already charging $5/gal for premium. Should have my new Prius within a couple of weeks (on a wait list ...). Can't wait.
  6. Oh, yeahhhhhhhhh. BOTH of them ... together! This album didn't grab me at first, but it's definitely grown on me with repeated listenings. Not exactly a "classic", but a solid session, for sure.
  7. The recent album by Trower & Jack Bruce is quite good. I never heard that old "BLT" album, but I imagine it's somewhat the same. Update - just saw the thread about this album in the "Recommendations" thread.
  8. Have you checked out the Steve Hoffman Forums? While not strictly 60s/70s, there's a lot of discussion about music of that era and it's a VERY active message board.
  9. Might have to break down and get this one. I haven't bought a Mosaic since Max Roach. It's probably time ...
  10. So did Led Zep's In Through the Out Door ... as did this album.
  11. I'm a little concerned about the strings, as well. Are they unobtrusive, or do they dominate the sessions? After a quick look through the discography, it didn't appear that there were that many sets that weren't small group recordings.
  12. This album literally came in a brown paper bag when first released.

    Andy Bey

His latest "Aint' Necessarily So" is a good place to start. Although actually recorded live in 1997, it's a great representation of his talents. "Shades of Bey" is solid, too.
  14. Not so hard to find, I guess. Go figure. Even downloadable as MP3s!
  15. [slightly different cover than what I have, but same album] Killer cut - "Samba de Rollins"!
  16. Is that Peter Magadini's "Polyrhythm" album? If so, that's a great album! No doubt very hard to find, too.
  17. I would say definitely a Zappa influence on most of these - the least being "Faces in Reflection", a relatively straight ahead album. "The Aura Will Prevail" has 2 FZ tunes: "Echidna's Arf" and "Uncle Remus". They are all definitely George Duke albums, though.
  18. I have all of these on vinyl. I really enjoyed them when they came out. As he was with FZ at the time, there are a handful of cameo appearances, as well (under the name, "Obdewl'l X"). Never seen any of them on CD. While some of the tunes sound a little dated now, the music holds up better than a lot of other fusion of its day (as Helen pointed out).
  19. Yes!
  20. These were kind of fusion-y among Woody's 70's Herd.
  21. Oh, that's right. Nice to know that humbuckers can be clean and bright, too. It's one of these, isn't it?
  22. Emmy Lou?
  23. I'll be seeing them in Berkeley in 2 weeks. A friend can't use her tix and offered them to me.
