Ordered the Teagarden.
It's totally out of my element, but seemed like an interesting set and I could use a change of pace once in a while. Only 4 disks, so not that much of a committment, either.
it was a wonderful tribute concert. no ernie watts though. kenny burrell, ernie andrews, bobby hutcherson and jon faddis made appearances.
Valerie, are we going to get a review?
From the SF Chron gossip columnist on Wednesday:
"... and Tim Sullivan says that rock guitarist Jimmy Page spent five hours checking out blues selections at Amoeba on Monday."
I'm kinda thinking of picking up the Teagarden (on sale) and Eldridge (before it goes OOP) sets.
Not my usual type of music, but something different for a change might be nice.
There are some stations here in SF that are already charging $5/gal for premium.
Should have my new Prius within a couple of weeks (on a wait list ...).
Can't wait.
Oh, yeahhhhhhhhh. BOTH of them ... together!
This album didn't grab me at first, but it's definitely grown on me with repeated listenings. Not exactly a "classic", but a solid session, for sure.
The recent album by Trower & Jack Bruce is quite good. I never heard that old "BLT" album, but I imagine it's somewhat the same.
Update - just saw the thread about this album in the "Recommendations" thread.
Have you checked out the Steve Hoffman Forums? While not strictly 60s/70s, there's a lot of discussion about music of that era and it's a VERY active message board.
