I think the lineup is Frank Foster, tenor sax; Ted Dunbar, guitar; Mickey Tucker, piano; Earl May, bass; Billy Hart, drums. N'Hita Jazz Club, Belgium, February 24th,1979.

Hey THANKS, Eloe!
Mabern's "Straight Street" is a great album.
There's another Joanne Brackeen trio album w/Jack & Eddie Gomez: "Keyed In"
So.....it looks like he's played with a LOT of piano trios, actually.
"Self Portrait" is a collection of tunes that Artie himself assembled a few years ago (before he passed away ... obviously). Not necessarily hits, but interesting and unusual stuff that he thought was his best work over the years.
"Self Portrait" arrived yesterday from SonyMusicStore.com. I think they still have it in stock for $39.98. Great price - especially if it's OOP or nearly OOP.
I listened to the first disk and was very impressed.
You must be kidding
Hmm...charming music decorated with a cover featuring a device designed to kill thousands of people. Just hilarious.
See, we Americans ain't all nuke-happy.
I think Claude was making a reference to his 'avatar'.
Thanks for that link.
They do apparently record every show and take the best performance of each tune to release in a multiple-disk, limited edition set.
On a side note ...
Anyone have any information on this one? I downloaded it from eMusic today and AMG has incomplete lineup info and no review.
Who's the guitar player?
Where/when was it recorded?
I rented a Honda Civic Hybrid a couple of months ago for an out-of-town trip. I did well over 700 miles and it was a very comfortable ride and got around 40mpg. I would still buy a Prius over this, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Not me. I thought it was refreshingly unique.
... and I'm sure Billy is VERY use to his "singing" as this group has played together (off and on) for many years.
