  1. Could be a Liberty-era pressing of this one The Blue Note labelography site says that Liberty-era disks had "BLUE NOTE RECORDS · A DIVISION OF LIBERTY RECORDS, INC" printed on the label. (not "NEW YORK USA") No. There are some LPs pressed in the 'Liberty' era (ie. just after Alfred Lion sold up) which still have the 'NY USA' labels. Hmmmmmm......interesting.
  2. Re-released a couple of years ago as The Masked Marauders "The Complete Deity Recordings" on Rhino/HandMade
  3. I've got a "NEW YORK USA" version of Lee Morgan's "Cornbread" and I'm not seeing an "ear" on that one, either. Interestingly enough, the cover has "Liberty Records, Inc Printed in U.S.A." on the front. It also has "MONAURAL" in big letters on the lower back. The Larry Young album has no mention of Liberty anywhere, and has "HIGH FIDELITY" on the upper left corner of the back. Mysterious ...

  5. ... although you can be sure that they WOULD have recorded together, if ... B-)
  6. Oh.......OK, wolff. 5 bucks too much?? B-) But seriously.......it does say "New York USA", but I don't see that "ear" that you are talking about. And although it's probably not "mint" it's in VERY nice shape - both cover and vinyl.
  7. After looking at the labelography page, I realize that my vinyl of Larry Young's "Into Somethin' " appears to be an original Mono version. Any idea what this thing's worth?
  8. I've got the Mosaic and also vinyl. I just realized that it's a "33 1/3 Microgroove LONG PLAYING" issue of the LP - is that particularly valuable?
  9. Go nuts. Cannonball Adderley with Nat Adderley - "What Is This Thing Called Soul?"
  10. They changed the color of the lettering from the regular issue to the RVG. I'm not sure what the original colors were on the LP.
  11. Never did get a good copy of this from BMG. They nicely credited me for the effort, though.
  12. I thought "Freeform" was Herbie's BN debut.
  13. The live Village Vanguard album was out on a budget disk. I picked it up by "accident" a few months ago - thinking it was something I didn't already have.

    Yes........Lena Horne. B-)
  15. I save 20GB worth on my Archos MP3 and the rest I burn as MP3s onto CDs. You can get a LOT more music on a CD if you burn them as "data" MP3 tracks.

  17. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...4710820652&rd=1 DON PULLEN-Mosaic Select 3 CD RARE numbered sealed NOTE:Due to bad experiences with some buyers I refuse to sell to anybody with less than 5 positive feedbacks or non register users, only bid if you are 100% sure that want the item, ... Perhaps if this seller was a little more honest he/she would have fewer "bad experiences".
  18. The new Rolling Stone is probably worth picking up. It's a tribute issue.
  19. That's the cover of "Dry", isn't it?
  20. I picked that album up from eMusic a while back. I liked it at first, but it didn't wear on me well. Maybe I should give it another listen.
  21. That's precisely the reason that I always hesitate to bash Rap music. I don't listen to it, but if I made a the effort to hear all the different styles, I'm sure there would be some stuff that I like.
  22. Damn!!! I didn't know he was on that!! I was watching the beginning of it, but it seemed to messy for me, too many similar sounding guitars all playing at once(why was Eric's multi colored??), and once Jimmie Vaughan started singing I couldn't bear it any more, so I shut it off (I've never been able to like anything I've heard by either Vaughan brother). If I had known Santana was there I would have waited it out. FWIW, they did "Jingo". I missed most of the show myself and had the sound off for much of the rest of it. I did hear Joe Walsh (w/Booker T & the MGs!) doing "Funk 49", which wasn't 1/2 bad. Just about the only thing by Walsh that I could say that I like.
  23. I don't know how well Carlos can do "jazz", anyway. No matter where he plays, it always ends up sounding like "Santana" music. He's just so intense, I think it's hard for him to blend into another style. I just saw him last night on the PBS special Eric Clapton "Crossroads" guitar festival. He had his own band and Eric sat in with them. It was no contest, really. Carlos is a fiery, agressive guitar player and Eric was just too laid-back and bluesy to keep up (although he gave it a valiant effort).
