  1. They'll have a note under the star rating that says: 128K MP3 ONLY! Otherwise, there is no listing of the bitrate.
  2. I have 2 "Bee Hives" that seem to be pretty scarce: Johnny Hartman - "Once in Every Life" (on Bee Hive Records) Clifford Brown - "Live at the Bee Hive" (on Columbia)
  3. Since I DON'T have a Beatles "butcher cover", I'll have to go with (based on monetary value alone - last sold on ebay for over $400) the Larry Young Mosaic CD set. (not that it's THAT rare, really). I also have all the George Duke MPS albums (discussed somewhere recently).
  4. Sounds good, doubleM
  5. did you guys notice that the upcoming handshake in this pic is bound to be one of the whimpy kind? You know, all fingers no palm. Luvly yes, thank you ... touch, go ... thank you... It's amazing how those guitar players all look OLDER than the Queen. (it must be the drugs)
  6. I just recently got into "Asia Minor". How does this BN stuff compare to that? I've started thinking that I have to put this set on my "list".
  7. One more time. ... and Dizzy Reece, too.
  8. Queen meets the Yardbirds......in more ways than one.
  9. If you really want to get into the Hammett thing, I HIGHLY recommend this: The Dashiell Hammett Tour I've done it a couple of times, and Don Herron has his schtick down. It is a very enjoyable walk around SF.
  10. The Dons went 18-10, falling in the second round to Capistrano Valley (Mission Viejo, CA) --CIF-SS Div IIAA L 55-57. Maxpreps.com is a good site for info like this. I'm going to "age" myself now. Keith (a/k/a Jamal) Wilkes was our star when I was at SBHS.
  11. That's what I was thinking.
  12. Whoa!! This is about as high a price as I have ever seen these 2 sets go for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT
  13. The Celluloid version changed the order of the tunes for some reason. I used to have it, but got rid of it for the newer version (which also has the original cover art). Can't say whether the mixes are any better or worse, though.
  14. I don't know......but I remember we were in the CIF. (Santa Barbara High)
  15. A HUGE one that I forgot to mention: Charles Tolliver - "Live at Slugs" ("Grand Max", too)
  16. Anyone had any trouble with Horace Silver's "United States of Mind" from BMG? I've received 2 copies and both have the same raspy, buzzing sound on disk #2 at the end of track 13 and then most of 14.
  17. Aside from many that have been mentioned - Lee @ Lighthouse, Blakey/Ugetsu, Wes "Full House", Trane @ Vanguard and Birdland, Miles @ Blackhawk, "Four & More", etc... Donald Byrd - "Half Note" Don Ellis - "Fillmore" Maynard - "Live at Jimmy's" Great Jazz Trio - "At the VV" Dexter - "Homecoming", "Bouncing w/Dex" Ella - "Mack the Knife", "In Hollywood" Cannonball - "What is This Thing Called Soul" Clifford Jordan - "Night of the Mark VII" McCoy - "Atlantis", "Enlightenment" Bartz - "I've Known Rivers" I'm sure I left out a bunch. There's nuthin' like LIVE jazz
  18. An appreciation on Charlie Rose tonight. Probably replaying some old interviews. **That's pretty shocking that he would do something like that while on the phone with his wife.
  19. I believe that is true.
  20. George Adams was the KING of inside/outslide playing.
  21. I still like Mallard. Have to look for that CD.
  22. Mine's a 2001 "Fuel 2000" copy. Doesn't really say who remastered it, which I never noticed before. I don't think that it is wildly better than the original album, which was muddy. Would like to see someone go in and do a "definitive" remaster on this. Add some extra tracks, too.

    March 1st RVG

1 Lee - "Johnny's Blue" 3 Waynes - "Noise in the Attic", "Sleeping Dancer", "Giantis" 1 Burke-Van Heusen - Title track
  24. The Mallard albums have Beefheart-like vocals, but they are different enough that it's not a problem. Also they aren't doing covers. Good albums, though. Pick 'em up if you can find them. Have they ever been released on CD?
  25. How IS that album? I've seen it in the stores.
