  1. I'm wondering why this one lists for $130 (7 CDs) and Jack Johnson (5 CDs) listed for $70. It's almost twice as much!

"The Real Thing" - Louis Hayes Woody Shaw Rene McLean Ronnie Matthews Stafford James Slide Hampton Produced by Michael Cuscuna
  3. I've still got vinyl of "Bush Dance". Maybe I'll just stick with that.
  4. I picked up "Breakthrough" within the past couple of years. In the March 2004 Mosaic catalog (#53), Cuscuna mentions that there will be a Pullen/Adams Select set "later this year".
  5. Finally getting some relief here in SF. Today was in the 70's and it's much cooler this evening. I even saw a hint of fog this afternoon. Bring it ON!!!
  6. I don't have a problem with the space program in general. I do have a problem with hairbrained schemes like Bush's proposal to send humans to Mars. Now THAT'S a monumental waste of time, research and money. It's been often proven that using robotics to explore space is much less costly and infinitely more productive on any number of levels.
  7. Check out Telegraph Avenue on a summer day... That's OK.......I work on Market Street - close enough.

Not to mention that Pearl's is right across the street from Jack Kerouac alley and City Lights Bookstore (a city landmark!).
  9. I thought the the headlines and photos today were classic tabloid "UFO" fare. If I didn't already know about this, I would have thought that the aliens had landed!
  10. [HEAVY sigh ...] OK, Lon.......I guess I gotta keep that box, too.
  11. Yeah - I have that one too. It's a weird set because it was when MCA owned the rights. Besides the rather worthless "Ultimate Experience" disk, they created new covers for each album (although they did print the original on the reverse side of the booklet). They had extensive liner notes and a set of "collectors stamps" within each booklet, too. I keep thinking I'm going to dump this one and re-buy the newer Eddie Kramer remasters someday. ... someday.
  12. Yeah...........it's DRY heat!
  13. I can't believe that I still don't have that "Experience" box. Maybe I'll break down and pick it up on my next Amoeba run. There's a fun (but flawed - selection-wise, I think) box from Rhino called "Cowabunga - The Surf Box", which is - DUH! - a collection of instrumental surf tunes. I believe that it's OOP, but probably turns up in the used stores periodically.
  14. Ditto pretty much everything that RainyDay said. This hot Bay Area weather SUCKS! To top it off, my landlord decided to do repairs on my shower last week ... and, of course, they haven't finished yet. So, I can't even take an afternoon shower to cool down. I've been traveling to the gym and a friend's house for morning showers.
  15. "Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country.'' POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (Reuters) - President Bush offered an unexpected reason on Monday for cracking down on frivolous medical lawsuits
  16. 'nuff said!
  17. I never noticed that he was on all of those. SMOKIN' for sure!

I have a bunch of Muse stuff: David Schnitter - "Thundering", "Goliath" Sam Jones - "Something in Common" Clifford Jordan - "Night of the Mark VII" Several Mark Murphy's Cedar Walton - "Eastern Rebellion", "Breakthrough" (previously on Cobblestone) Woody Shaw - "Lovedance", "The Moontrane", "Live at the Berliner Jazztage" Ricky Ford - "Tenor for the Times" Art Blakey - "In My Prime, Vol. 1" (on Timeless Muse) Larry Coryell - "Equipoise" Charles Earland - "Mama Roots", "Infant Eyes" There are probably others. I find that I get Muse albums confused with Inner City (Irv Kratka's label) albums.
  19. Interesting. Good price, too - $30. Limited edition of 5,000. Might have to pick that one up.
  20. That Gary Bartz disk is great. I always loved those 2 albums. You might want to track down the BGP import of this, because the Milestone release left off one tune. I got mine from Dusty Groove and they still list it, but also that it's "Out of Stock".
  21. I have that album and was actually at the show, too! Part of a summer jazz series at the W79th Street Rotunda (near the marina) in NYC. Also saw George Coleman and Clifford Jordan (not together).
  22. Of course the fact that the set is immensely enjoyable and entertaining has nothing to do with it. B-)
  23. Didn't realize that "Relaxin'" wasn't in the box. As I said.....I don't have it myself. Anyway, it seems that for the "right" price it's certainly worth picking up.
  24. I've pretty much eliminated magazines altogether, as I get enough of that "periodical" information online now. Still get The Nation, Smart Money, Consumer Reports, Consumer Reports MoneyAdvisor and some magazines from Environmental groups like Audubon, Nature Conservancy, etc. Oh, yeah......my girlfriend always passes on her copies of The New Yorker when she's finished. They tend to pile up and then I'll read a whole bunch at once.
