Thanks for the reminder! I've had that since it came out, but never listened to it much.

I listened to quite a bit of this on Amazon Music and it's hugely disappointing. The repetitive raw and alt-takes plus the spare studio chatter throughout is not something I would listen to more than once. Definitely not worth the price unless you happen to be a FZ completist. I'm sure Frank would be very unhappy that this set was released.

Rev Gary Davis was a big influence on Jorma Kaukonen. You can really hear it in his acoustic music.

I've heard great things about the Kimball. Would like to go there someday. "Soul of a Nation, Art in the Age of Black Power" is now in SF at the DeYoung. I missed it in London a couple of years ago. Really want to see it now.

Yeah ... the Criterion set is great! Jimi was outstanding of course with this mind blowing performance at the beginning of his career. Everyone's probably seen it by now, especially the guitar burning, but at the time he was single-handedly forging a sea change in rock. And you get his complete set in the box. I always liked the Airplane set and nice to see Quicksilver Messenger Service, too.

For you streamers out there, there's a fair amount of Joe on Amazon and Tidal. Including Skateboard Park and the 2 BNs with Elvin's Trio.

Agreed. For these types of multi-venue festivals paying up for a premier access pass is the only way to go. After many years of navigating SXSW, I learned that with "regular" passes it's too easy to get shut out of shows you most want to see. One nice thing about Big Ears (so far, anyway) is they cap sales so that hopefully it will never get too crowded.

Really! I was at the Montreux Jazz Fest in '78 and he was there promoting that as well as other Novus artists. I saw that show!
