  1. "Baggy" - Ha Ha! The remaster is surprisingly good, too. Funny you should mention Big Star. Today I was listening to this live album of the reconstituted Big Star (1993) with the guys from the Posies.
  2. My first order was missing a disk. Don't remember which one now. No problem getting a replacement from Amazon, though. Just listened to Urban Bushmen this morning!
  3. Tomorrow night, SFJAZZ Collective. Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of two of the essential albums in popular music, Sly and Family Stone’s Stand! and Miles Davis’ In a Silent Way
  4. I have it too, but haven't given it a listen in a LONG time. Maybe this weekend.
  5. Brand new album by Michael Kiwanuka. Kind of a 60's soul/rock vibe. Worth checking out.
  6. I got turned on to Peter Evans last year at Big Ears. A unique player, and enjoyable seeing live.
  7. Yes, they were! Her current, long-time band "Buick 6" is pretty excellent, too.
  8. Friday at SFJAZZ: Scott Amendola, drums & electronics Wil Blades, Hammond B3 organ & keyboards Skerik, saxophones Jeff Parker, guitar Cyro Baptista, percussion a/k/a - "AMENDOLA VS. BLADES VS. SKERIK VS. BAPTISTA VS. PARKER" Should be a fun show.
  9. This was a very interesting s/t from 1991. Haven't listened to it in a long time. I forgot how good it is.
  10. Looking forward to seeing them next year at SFJAZZ. Saw Allison Miller and Carmen Staaf ‘Science Fair’ w/Dayna Stephens, Jason Palmer, Matt Penman at the NYC Winter JazzFest last January and they were very good, too.
  11. The Dukes of Stratosphear (XTC) Psurroundabout Ride gathers all of the Dukes’ material on a CD/Blu-Ray set, with both of the band’s albums (plus 2 extra tracks) remixed in stereo and 5.1 surround by Steven Wilson (approved by Andy Partridge).
  12. 100% - and still a great album. Vintage Joe Farrell, too!
  13. Seventeen Seconds by Frankie Rose The quality of the interpretations here speak for themselves, but here's Frankie talking about tackling this Cure album: "Since I already think it's a perfect record, I tried not to reinterpret too much and stick to similar sounds as the original, but with a twist. Working on it with Jorge Elbrecht was a dream, because he's the only person who’s as deep of a Cure fan as I am! And he's a damn wizard!" Together Frankie and Jorge have created something quite special, paying loving tribute to this well-loved album while still putting their own very contemporary stamp on the songs.
