  1. Zig Zag Power Trio (Vernon Reid, Will Calhoun, Melvin Gibbs)
  2. Yes - Brandon Ross. Can't say I know their albums well enough to recommend one. Since they rely pretty much on improvisation, I would guess they're all good.
  3. Harriett Tubman last night. Great ... as advertised!
  4. Unavoidable? Mandatory, Chuck! Yes, I'll be at Big Ears, too. The only other breakfast place I found is OliBea. Unfortunately it's very small and there's always a line.
  5. This could have easily been a hit if given the chance.
  6. Great power pop album. A must for Television fans.
  7. Is this "non-jazz"? I can't decide ...
  8. I like that album, and it sounds fine to me. Now playing ...
  9. Looking forward to both!
  10. Two shows next week at SFJAZZ in the intimate Joe Henderson Lab. Should be intense! 1) Harriett Tubman: Brandon Ross guitar, banjo, vocals; Melvin Gibbs bass; J.T. Lewis drums 2) Zig-Zag Power Trio: Vernon Reid guitar; Melvin Gibbs bass; Will Calhoun drums
  11. Having never seen him, I plan on seeing at least one of his appearances. Hope fully more, but there's so much good music I'm sure there will be the usual juggling act with the schedule.
  12. I bet! I still have Big Ears to look forward to.
  13. If you only have one Spoon album, this is the one to get.
  14. Saw her with Kris Davis a few months back. REALLY good.
  15. I really wanted to go again this year, but couldn't make it. Maybe next year.
  16. The whole box is available for streaming on Amazon Music if you have Prime.
  17. I haven't heard all her albums, either. But I'm sure they're worth a listen.
  18. That IS an interesting tune! I've found Callier to be a real enigma. He does stuff like this, but also has that folk/jazz side, and Ordinary Joe is totally different from both.
  19. Absolutely! I haven't listened to her in a long time, but I heard this tune by Terry Callier this morning and she immediately came to mind.
