  1. I've seen plenty of videos and also previously live in '76 and '80 when he was REALLY on top of his game.
  2. I'll start by saying I'm not a huge Bruce fan. I don't hate him, but I'm not going to trash him, either. He obviously touches millions of fans and you can't dismiss that. One of the "problems" I have is that his strength is in his live shows and he's SO popular that the only way you're going to see him is either in an arena/ballpark or a wildly expensive Broadway theater (which is finished, anyway). IMO, to really enjoy him you'd have to be in a small/medium theater or club, which for most people isn't going to happen. I was lucky to see him close up in 2012 at SXSW in the Moody Theater, Austin; a venue of less than 3,000. It was a very good show.
  3. Early-70s Rod Stewart (plus the 2 Jeff Beck Group albums) is really the only stuff you need to try.
  4. Great - THANKS! I actually went to Discogs, but didn't see that info for some reason.
  5. I'm afraid this is the first I've heard of him. Not sure how that happened from reading about him now. Anyone have personnel info on: Lean On Him, Pure Dynamite and Awareness?
  6. Yeah. Unbelievable! BTW, ‘Amsterdam After Dark’ is a gem, for SURE! "(New) Arrival" from that album is on Hilton's "Piano Man" album, too.
  7. I saw him with George at least a couple of times. REAL sad what happened to him. His first solo album was very nice. Here's a track.
  8. **Speaking of "Sections," guys ... how about taking THAT discussion over to the "Forums Discussion" section instead of this Topic about Cream. Thanks in advance ...
  9. Jimi was, and will always BE ... the best.
  10. I've never seen that cover by Carmine Coppola before. Interesting!
  11. Good to know ... THANKS! Update: a quick search didn't find any selling for less than $50!
  12. I pre-ordered the Cream set. Not usually a 'completist' as far as reissues go, but I'll make a few exceptions (e.g. the new Jimi box), but I'm really curious to hear how well it's remastered. If there are some gems in there, it'll be worth it. I have the previous "compete" 4-CD Cream box (Those Were The Days) and the live stuff sounds pretty much like the original versions, IIRC.
  13. Hope you had a great one ... BELATEDLY!
  14. Yes it is! Someone (unfortunately I don't remember who) was nice enough to send me a needle-drop copy of it along with its companion, "Music From the Source".
  15. A friend of mine knows her. He goes over to her house occasionally and they watch movies or listen to records.
  16. It wasn't my first, but it was an early one. Interesting that there seems to be a resurgence of interest in Andrew lately. Especially regarding all the new vinyl BN reissues. I never got that Braxton box. Sorry I missed out. Will hopefully be able to see him at the Big Ears Festival in March, though.
  17. Yes! Every song has 'single' written all over it! Their 2nd album "Pure" was really good, too.
  18. I saw the show. It was interesting! Fraenkel has it on sale right now - cheaper than Amazon (which is unusual).
  19. This is an interesting book based on an exhibition at the Fraenkel Gallery in SF. So the emphasis is on "Art" more than music, but worth checking out. ART & VINYL
  20. Andrew Hill (big box): disks 5-7
  21. Next year ... for SURE!!
