  1. I never saw Miles until the Warner years (and glad I did!), but was never much interested in buying any of the albums. I should probably check out a couple of the ones suggested here. Picture taken at Berkeley's Zellerbach Auditorium Aug 1, 1982
  2. I don't see getting it, either. Never was very interested in the Warner years.
  3. Would love to get that Bee Hive set, but just too much (price and number of disks)
  4. I haven't forgotten. Love those guys! Mitch Easter put out a very good solo album about 12 years ago that worth hunting down for any Let's Active fan. Sadly, the drummer Sara Romwebber passed away recently.
  5. A good chance it's these guys who are playing at SFJAZZ on Friday. A Love Supreme Re-Imagined THE MATTSON 2 W/ SPECIAL GUEST CALVIN KEYS
  6. SFJAZZ Summer Festival this week: Wed: Jazzmeia Horn Sat: Rudresh Mahanthappa w/Eric Revis, Dave King
  7. Really good. Much better than their 'comeback' LP of a couple years ago.
  8. That's what I was wondering.
  9. This was part of the blurb from the Miles Davis FB page. Might be significant. [The Remastered and pitch corrected, “Complete Birth Of The Cool,” 2LP is available worldwide on 6/7, with CD on 6/28. Buy now!]
  10. Yes. Definitely!
  11. I guess it also remains to be seen how different (if at all) this CD remaster is from the others.
  12. OK, then! I hate to keep buying this.
  13. More Miles: Complete ‘Birth Of The Cool’ Sessions Out June 7 Any thoughts on this? You think it will be any different/better than the combined last "Complete Birth" in 1998 and the RVG version in 2001?
  14. Saw him last year with Sheila Jordan. They have a great rapport!
  15. I don't have the "Grow Fins" collection, but I do have the nicely packaged "Sun Zoom Spark" box with 'Decals,' 'Spotlight Kid,' 'Clear Spot' and a disk of unreleased outtakes. Really a shame there isn't some sort of 50th Anniversary collection.
  16. I can imagine! Saw Adams/Pullen (or Pullen/Adams ) at the Keystone Korner in 81, and then at the Village Vanguard twice in 85.
  17. They were great, for sure! Saw them a number of times and especially like their Black Saint/Soul Note albums. I regret that I never saw them with Mingus, though.
  18. Mentioned this band earlier, but have been listening to these albums specifically. Also the live one, but these are more focused. Also the last couple of Riverside albums. Just saw them live for the first time last week. A much more upbeat show than I expected, but solid as a rock.
  19. Seeing them again (for the umpteenth time) at SFJAZZ in the middle of the month.
  20. The Cookers (w/Billy, of course) do Capra Black on the "Warriors" album. Most of their albums have at least on classic BH piece. Croquet Ballet ("Cast the First Stone) Quest ("Believe") Dance Eternal Spirits Dance ("Time and Time Again") The Call of the Wild and Peaceful Heart ("The Call of the Wild and Peaceful Heart")
  21. They're going to be at the Back Room in Berkeley on June 30.
  22. Mosaic Select 16 - Andrew Hill, disk 3
  23. That's probably it.
  24. Looking forward to seeing Eric and his quartet at SFJAZZ in a few weeks. Not a huge fan, but I generally like his work and he's playing in the tiny Joe Henderson Lab. Mabern was supposed to be with him, but it was announced a while ago that because of "health reasons" (? - he seems to be gigging around the East), Eric Reed will be on piano.
