So how's this one? I saw her on SNL doing a tune from this (I think it was "Earth Intruders") with an all-female brass group, and it seemed kind of interesting (nice groove). I highly recommend this album. She's back to form. (I didn't care for the last couple albums...though I'm trying...) The arrangements are incredible...especially the horn section. "Declare Independence" is so intense!

Parkertown replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
I'd love one on vinyl. I'd pay up to $25-30 for a hopefully nice pressing. -

The alternate lyrics in the early take of "Matilda Mother" are worth the price of admission alone! "and slices of delicious ham..." Yes, it's worth it. The mono mix of the album is very different, containing overdubs not found on the stereo mixes. Put it on and have yer own psychedelic freakout! -

Any personal info on the stolen PC? Man, I need to change my ways...all my PCs are set to enter passwords automatically. If my PC gets stolen, I would need to cancel credit cards, Paypal account, email, etc... Oh, sorry...as if you didn't have enough to worry about... :0 -
Today, I said good-bye to my Shadow
Parkertown replied to Tim McG's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
So sorry to hear...I hope you feel better soon. It's never easy...I am getting choked up right now just remembering some of my former pets... Sounds like you were very close. From your story, it's so obvious how you must've loved one another...not that it stops now...if you know what I mean. Heck...my doggie I have now is named Shadow too. And I love him to pieces! Hang in there... -

What happened Wolff? Didja get noisy copies of Tres Hombres & Sweet Baby James? I'm not interested in the JT album so I haven't purchased it but my SH mastered, Kevin Gray cut, RTI pressed Tres Hombres is very nearly perfect. I understand some have received copies with some noise in between tracks and in the runout groove. Mine is flat and silent, with just little noise in the runout groove just after the music ends. It is something that while unfortunate, I can live with. Especially considering the mighty impressive sound quality. But on the whole, I truly think these $22.99 (ZZ Top, JT, Joni Mitchell), $29.99 (Classic Recs/Speaker's Corner), $32.99 (Cisco), and $49.99 (AP/Music Matters 45 RPM series) should be perfect records. Of the labels I've purchased so far, only the Speaker's Corner & Cisco products can I say have been absolutely flawless. -

Well...not really. It's actually a toss-up between "Green Manalishi" and "Man of the World." -

Duke Ellington - The Blanton-Webster Band 4 Lp boxed set on Bluebird. I don't normally listen to music made before '48 or '49 or so...but this was only $12...sealed and perfect! Very nice...different than hard bop...that's for sure. This sounds nice I guess, considering the era it was recorded. The credits state is was digitally remastered. A pity...for an Lp set. These must've been originally recorded on disc, correct? They sound real clean, with decent fidelity. Or is there some JSP or Proper box with better sound? As I have nothing to compare this to, I can't tell if this set may be the victim of some serious noise reduction or other digital nasties... I guess I should read the essay/booklet...I hit that point a year or two ago where I just don't take the time to read liner notes/booklets anymore... Does that happen to everyone?
