  1. Hogmanay? Que? Whatever, sounds fun to me!
  2. The Who Sell Out - from the German 'Phases' boxed set. It sounds soooo good! P.S. Is "I Can See For Miles" the greatest rock song ever written?
  3. Perhaps you should check out the "Pay-It-Foward Music Giveaway" thread... Nice things are happening there. B-)
  4. Are we sure this is an original? That font on the address on the record label looks like a font I've seen on Japanese Blue Note reissues... Anyone? Buehler? But I could be wrong, as I'm only just learning about BN vinyl...
  5. But, where?
  6. Yep, I picked up Big John's "Let "Em Roll" that must be a Rare Groove vinyl edition. It sounds great!
  7. 2 questions: 1) What's the difference between Love In (which was recorded at the Fillmore) and Live at Fillmore? I have the former, not the latter. What tracks are on it? 2) How does the USSR album compare to Forest Flower and Love In? And a comment: get a copy of Soundtrack (which is available on Rhino as a 2on1 w/FF) -- there's an extremely grooving version of "Sombrero Sam" on there, as well as an excellent funky "Forest Flower". Guy 1) I believe it is music recorded from the same time/sessions as Love-In. 2) I haven't listened to the USSR album enough yet, maybe once, for it to really sink in yet. I believe Sangry gave it a earlier in the thread. I'll be listening again soon... I have my eye on a mint Stereo copy of Soundtrack. They want friggin' $15 for the damn thing. My vinyl habit is gonna break me yet... Thanks for the rec's, Guy.
  8. Okay, I received the lps. The Blue Notes are not the Wally Traugatt mastered ones...darn it. I ordered four: Soul Station Something Else Two Souls In One The All-Seeing Eye SS & SE were horribly warped. Yikes! The other two were fine, sound pretty good, but not revelatory. The guy at vinyl.com was great about wanting to keep me happy and sent out replacements. The replacements, sadly, were warped as well. But he's giving me a refund of the price and my return shipping cost. Excellent customer service! I'll be buying from vinyl.com again for sure!
  9. Jarrett was quite a little monster back in the day. One of my favorite "Jarrett with Lloyd" bits is his solo on "Autumn Leaves" (from Dream Weaver). Guy I still haven't been able to find a reasonably priced vinyl copy of this lp in what I'd consider an acceptable condition. The ones I mentioned above are in fantastic shape and sound incredible!
  10. Worth the money? Goddamn they're expensive...
  11. Best wishes, Paul! Cheers!
  12. Oh and you guys are: CRACKIN' MY SHIT UP!!!!! B-)
  13. How will I ever listen to my Journey cds with a straight face again?
  14. For me, getting into Dylan took just one thing: "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan." The voice, the intimacy (he's right in yer ear...), the imagery ( "lit a cigarette on a parking meter..."), the fingers pointed, the logic offered, the ill-logic offered, the yearning expressed, the humor, the cool-as-shit stereo mix, the cool-as-shit mono mix... Okay, I'm just gushing now... Start here and you'll be hooked for life. I sure-as-hell know I am.
  15. The Who - German "Phases" Lp box
  16. Because the people who get cds from the library spend more time playing Frisbee with the cds than actually listening to them!!! Have you seen the condition of cds at the library? It's not a pretty sight...
  17. Yes, yes it is... I've really concentrated on Disc 3, though. Love those session; what thunderous sound! Haven't really connected with the first 2 yet. Sounds like I've got a lot to look forward to... B-)
  18. Oops, Eric...I missed you subtledy at first...gotcha!
  19. damn fine lady... B-)
  20. Unless he's talking about a bootleg, I believe it's George Coleman on that recording of "Seven Steps." Must be the 2/12/64 concert... I don't think there are any official recordings of the band with Wayne doing Seven Steps in 1964. He specifically referred to "an album."
  21. I just recently traded in "The Sign of 4" and "No Tolerance for Silence." Not worth my time...no tolerance...just noise...
  22. How do they do this one live? It is an "excerpted" version? I doubt it, FFA. Thanks for the review Aftab. I've got balcony tickets for their March 9 show at the Paramount Theater in Denver. Wow! They trade off on instruments? Totally cool! Can't wait! B-)
  23. Sorry, that was a little impulsive...
