  1. RDK: I'm NEVER lending you any cds!
  2. Chris Olivarez, Howdy Chris! It got to the mid-80's in Denver yesterday. Supposed to be warm all weekend too. I was gonna go ski today, but it's just gonna be crap! Ice in the morning; mashed potatoes in the afternoon. No thanks! I've gotta ton of stuff to do around the house and office. Shit, I'm getting old...
  3. Gave away the '97 cd to someone; hoping to turn them on to jazz. I've got the MC SACD (umm, there is no hybrid version of this SACD, as mentioned above). The Miles/Trane box. My favorite? The SACD, of course. I like different things about the stereo and multichannel mixes. "Blue In Green" is my favorite. What a mood! If you could bottle that, that'd be a big seller. Damn Miles, stealing credit for Bill Evans' tune... P.S. Am I the only one that thinks that "Flamenco Sketches" is a ripoff of "Peace Piece"?
  4. Didn't see a Roland Kirk set though... P.S. There ain't one in my collection either!
  5. Thanks for the compliments gang! The unit on the leftmost of the pic actually goes up twice as high as what you can see. Couw-boy: The units with the big gaps came that way. They were left by the previous owner of the house my in-laws moved into a few months back. If you guys think I'm tidy, check out Claude's pics! Now that's supa-dupa sweet looking! All my stuff was done on the cheap/free/discards. I often fantasize about doing a custom-built unit with nice wood, built-in lighting and display shelves. Someday!
  6. Here's mine. It gets messy sometimes, plus I have a bunch in boxes...
  7. Umm, yeah, what Tom said...
  8. And if this TOCJ was dubbed from an LP, I sure can't tell! Sounds top notch.
  9. I'd definitely call this one a favorite. I have the TOCJ. Always gets the toes a'tappin'. It also kinda has that Austin Powers, Swinging London in the 60's feel about it.
  10. Have a great day, Big Guy! Always enjoy your posts. B)
  11. That would be Queens Of The Stone Age with their album Songs For The Deaf. I heard they just broke up. That was a cool, twisted video.
  12. One of the discs on Keith Jarrett's "Rarum: Selected Recordings" is exactly 80:00 mins long. Making a copy was tricky, but successful after it warned me about overburning... Anyone ever try the 99 minute cdrs? My recorder wouldn't recognize them as anything more than 80 minutes.
  13. Oh look, a baby deer...
  14. I have promo samplers from most of the box sets, but didn't know about this one. But I do recall that postcard from the box. I didn't detach mine though. I have promo samplers from: The Columbia Years Miles/Gil box 2nd Quintet box Bitches Brew singles Miles/Trane box Plugged Nickel-Sampler, not Highlights disc I think that's all...
  15. I know what RTs saying. It took me awhile to wrap my ears around this set at first. I had trouble with Miles tone. I thought he was drunk! But, once I got into it...Wow! Into the stratosphere!!! B) Think I'll listen to some today! (Sorry to rub it in, Conn)
  16. Or, too much Tanqueray indeed! B)
  17. Okay, finally did my listening last night. I think you must have a bad pressing, because both versions of mine sounded fine. I'd say "Easy Listening" is putting it mildly.
  18. Shaft! That's friggin' hilarious! Thanks for the first belly-laugh of today.
  19. Happy Birthday Jazzmatazz! Luv yer website! Keep up the good work. B)
  20. I'd like to offer my sympathies as well, RT. May she rest in peace. I'd say you're the "tower of strength". Hang in there bud.
  21. Congas I've yet to warm up to the Lou Donaldson dates on the Mosaic that include a conguero.
  22. Now that you mention it, it did seem kinda distorted to me when I played that disc last week. But also, it put me to sleep so fast I can't really give further comment. Can't say its a favorite, but this disc makes an easier listen to this session than the box set, with it's copious alternate takes... Should probably compare the two and see if the box set shares the distortion.
  23. Thanks Lon! I mean jazzbo. I mean Pops Fan!
  24. Where can one find the echo-less 26 track Japanese cd with the best sound? Catalog number? Much thanks...
