  1. I have promo samplers from most of the box sets, but didn't know about this one. But I do recall that postcard from the box. I didn't detach mine though. I have promo samplers from: The Columbia Years Miles/Gil box 2nd Quintet box Bitches Brew singles Miles/Trane box Plugged Nickel-Sampler, not Highlights disc I think that's all...
  2. I know what RTs saying. It took me awhile to wrap my ears around this set at first. I had trouble with Miles tone. I thought he was drunk! But, once I got into it...Wow! Into the stratosphere!!! B) Think I'll listen to some today! (Sorry to rub it in, Conn)
  3. Or, too much Tanqueray indeed! B)
  4. Okay, finally did my listening last night. I think you must have a bad pressing, because both versions of mine sounded fine. I'd say "Easy Listening" is putting it mildly.
  5. Shaft! That's friggin' hilarious! Thanks for the first belly-laugh of today.
  6. Happy Birthday Jazzmatazz! Luv yer website! Keep up the good work. B)
  7. I'd like to offer my sympathies as well, RT. May she rest in peace. I'd say you're the "tower of strength". Hang in there bud.
  8. Congas I've yet to warm up to the Lou Donaldson dates on the Mosaic that include a conguero.
  9. Now that you mention it, it did seem kinda distorted to me when I played that disc last week. But also, it put me to sleep so fast I can't really give further comment. Can't say its a favorite, but this disc makes an easier listen to this session than the box set, with it's copious alternate takes... Should probably compare the two and see if the box set shares the distortion.
  10. Thanks Lon! I mean jazzbo. I mean Pops Fan!
  11. Where can one find the echo-less 26 track Japanese cd with the best sound? Catalog number? Much thanks...
  12. But it would be a travesty not to include the Trane-less tracks from SMPWC.
  13. And I don't believe Carnegie Hall will be included either...
  14. Hans, Not good news to me. I'm trying to be strong and resist buying these; music I already own. I've got the all the K2 Heritage of Jazz mini lps of the Miles New Quintet titles and want to resist buying the SACDs. You're not helping...
  15. That sounds pretty accurate. Welcome Tim. Post often. B)
  16. What a Betty!!! No wonder Miles couldn't resist her! B)
  17. We use a DVR at home (Digital Video Recorder). It is built-in to our satellite receiver. It is not a TIVO. We love it for it's convenience and the great performance, but it does not work like a TIVO. A TIVO will actually learn your viewing habits and recommend AND ACTUALLY RECORD shows based on what it thinks you will like. Haven't you guys ever heard of the somewhat famous article "My TIVO Thinks I'm Gay"?
  18. Make sure the wife is out of the house... My copy of OM has a sticky note on it that says: "Note to Shelley: NEVER PLAY!!!"
  19. Sent an email re: Turrentine TOCJ and Monk Gold disc. Thanks!
  20. Sounds good to me! I've been on a big B.O.C. kick lately. They have been blowing me away. "I'm making a Career of Evil" "the heat from below will BURN YOUR EYES OUT" Nice crunchy guitars...it's a good thing. B) -------------------- B.O.C. = Blue Oyster Cult
  21. Why would anybody want to be AN UGLY WOMAN?!?!? He certainly ain't gonna be a beauty...
  22. Yup, chalk 'em up as a guilty pleasure! "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" "Rumors In The Air" rock so damn hard. Hello, my name is Scott, and I love Night Ranger. Only the first 3 albums though...
  23. Now that's hilarious! You're probably lucky they didn't pound you and "Robert" into the ground. B)
  24. Yep, a buddy of mine seems to alway pick the door with the "blooper" prize! Poor son of a gun...
  25. Listen to the song I mentioned earlier, "Togetherness". It's from the last session, with the larger ensemble. Listen and see if you don't have a big sh#t-eating grin on your face by the time it's over. It makes me "happy"; a real spirit lifter!
