  1. I've always been curious about that Mark Isham-Silent Way Project. Can anyone offer recommendations on it, pro or con? Thanks.
  2. Weizen: I just found a Toshiba EMI TOJJ-5056(1999-2001)10" LP reissue of Jutta Hipp New Faces-New Sounds From Germany Blue Note BLP-5056(1955) on eBay. Jutta Hipp eBay auction You do vinyl, right? Chrisiern: Uncalled for? That's all he makes is uncalled for remarks. Is he a "formerly" nice person, who is now going on a downward spiral? Because he is probably alienating everyone in his life. Any knowledge or skillful musicianship he possesses is being quickly dissipated by his ongoing behavior and attitudes...and consumption... IMHO...
  3. That's really sad... P.S. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Damn, I hate Wingy! (see this thread at AAJ)
  4. Don't know if it's craziness, but just look what Spain did to this Tina Brooks True Blue cover!!! True Blue auction Very funky-looking!
  5. I really liked the first two Garbage albums. ( Didn't care for the third nearly as much, or maybe I haven't spun it enough yet. ) Totally agree about Garbage! First 2 (+ all the b-sides) are fantastic. They definitely give me a rush, but I sure wouldn't call it a "jazz" high. The third "BeautifulGarbage" has taken awhile to reveal itself to me. But we saw 'em open up for No Doubt late last year and they OWNED Denver that nite! (So did No Doubt BTW). And the new songs rocked! So I really need to give that one a spin again...probably right now! And Bjork is an incredible artist who can change and mix genres of music with a flick of her cute little wrist... "It's Oh So Quiet" by her. Wow!!! You either love it or hate it. Count me with the former. What a big band!!! Bjork-always a good time in concert. I've only seen one, and I danced my ass off! But I've viewed many others and she delivers the goods.
  6. Oh crap!!! I don't have this one! I've got "Black Saint & Sinner Lady" tho. But it just ain't reachin' me...I tried again on Monday...
  7. Thanks for posting that Robert J! I'm definitely gonna have to track that DVD down...hopefully at my library. I recently purchased the Mosaic set as well, and have been taking it in slowly. But damn!, the first track off the set blew me away! (It's not in front of me now) The playing is amazing, especially that cascading set of riffs he does in a out-of-time fashion! Jaw on the floor!
  8. When you have snow like this, there's not much else to do...
  9. And you're sure you've listened all you care to? This is one that took several listens to reveal itself to me. (But I agree about the Byrd albums, ). Are you a big free-jazz fan? I know you're way into "modern" jazz (hard bop, etc...) but I'm not sure if I recall you commenting much on 'outside' types of music...??
  10. Still listening...once all the way through the other day. I want to give at least one more listen first before contributing. But I wanted to say that this one went right over my head when I first picked it up. It has only been in the last 4-5 listens that it is really starting to open up for me. I'm really diggin' it! Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere! B)
  11. Umm, actually I meant One Step Beyond. That's the JRVG I have. I've got the Connoisseur of Destination Out!
  12. Good point. I'm on the fence as well about this set. I have all of the music, in good remasterings, except for 'Bout Soul and of course, Hipnosis. But I've a JRVG of Destination Out as well that could perhaps fund this purchase...

    Archie and trane

Gee, how does one get to hear this recording......?
  14. AfricaBrass: I've always thought the same thing. The background vocals on Shania's/Mutt's last two albums are total "Def Leppard" background vocals. Sounds just like "Pour Some Sugar On Me"! I actually loved Shania's second and third albums. This latest is actually pretty good. Would've been much better if they eliminated about 7 or 8 songs from it though. 19 songs!?!? Too much... I'm a firm believer in the "leave 'em wanting more" school of thought. Some of the songs are great, IMO, but they all pretty much follow the same formula of her previous records. No new ground being broken here. And yeah, this ain't really country music; it's pop music with a twangggg.
  15. That cover for "Inta Something" is best when viewed full-size. I had the Connoisseur and thought it was cool, but when I finally got a copy of the 12x12 Blue Note Cover Art book, the cover for that album blew me away!!! God I miss lp's! For the art...I don't miss pops and clicks...
  16. Wow! Thanks Mike, that's really cool to know. Jim: Your piano is definitely getting some mileage. That's great, but I've only heard of a few of the musicians you mentioned. I need to branch out...
  17. Thanks couw! I have done so and it looks better. Still dorky, but better...
  18. Hi Jim, Has anyone recorded on your piano yet in it's new home?
  19. Thanks to one of the coolest members of this board (you know who you are ), I just recently snagged a copy of the TOCJ that has an extra session from, I think, 1969. It's really good as well but hasn't really sunk in with me yet. Opinions from those that have heard this? I'm more familiar with the original session from the Connoisseur copy I own and agree it's a fine date with sublime compositions. Elegant ice n fire!!
  20. Okay, it's official, I am now truly a dork and everyone knows it! Thanks again Jeff!
  21. I'll try, as it is snowing again here.
  22. No wait...that's just way too stoopid-looking! Who is that dork?
  23. Can anyone suggest a program or a way for me to resize an animated GIF? I have one I would like to try and use but it's too large and when I resize it using Image Expert 2000 and MS Photo Editor the new smaller image only contains the first image of the animation, which I believe contains like 8 or 9 images. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Here's the image:
  24. I'm gonna delete this topic tomorrow, if no one objects?
