  1. No, it was loud. I saw most of the late sixties rock bands The Who, Lou Reed, Mountain, Jefferson Airplane, etc. Mile was loud with those two guitarists and that bank of Marshall amps. If you put on Agartha and play it at toip volume with headphones on, it was that loud. Great show by the way. MILES 1973 Video

No, it has different material, as a whole, than the Miles Davis Reader. It's published by Lawrence Hill Books.

  9. Crazy!...as Babs would say.
  10. I had Joe Locke's Rev-elation cd at the #1 spot on JazzWeek for eight straight weeks a couple of years ago and to tell you the truth, it didn't help cd sales much. It DID help with name recognition and some choice gigs. That can be achieved by sending promos to the best people (by reputation and "influence") and/ or the best stations in the country yourself. I mean, what does it really mean to have a station in say South Dakota play your cd 100 times? I would rather have it played in NYC, LA, the Bay Area etc. ( for the greater population and fans) and save the promo for a print review, or send it to a promoter. You can be very effective by sending out 100 promos in the USA. I put as much, and sometimes more, effort in getting releases played overseas. They pay a decent royalty, and frankly, that's where the audience is. I would never pay for radio promotion. It's just not cost effective.
  11. Best Wishes and Happy Birthday John!
  12. I don't know why Mel Torme and Eddie Condon are included in the set, but I assume that Atlantic didn't record say, Bart Howard or Jane Harvey. Wonderful review, Larry.
  13. I like Bab's card. Crazy!
  14. I only saw him once. That was in the early / mid- 70's because I was curious. I was very underwelmed. I remember he did this shadow boxing routine that was really silly! For Bowie, I guess it was a historical night because later he was busted in his hotel for propositioning a undercover vice cop to come up to his room for party and she busted him for pot. Now I grew up in the same neoighborhood as this girl and she was rather homley to say the least! Dog faced, we Italians say. Bad taste! Edit: I see now it was 1976: Unseen image from rock star's 1976 Rochester pot bust surfaces
  15. Perry Robinson, who has if nothing, a very eclectic career. I asked Chris Brubeck about him earlier this year.
