  7. Just for you Bruce... Up the shorts shot:
  8. I agree with all of the above except for the last line.
  9. I liked the covers, for the most part and the font. Here's a good one that is almost ruined by the new font/title block on the cover on the cd release: Here's another good one with the original font. See, much better: By the way, here's more info on Phil Stern, who goes all the way back to the Sleepy Lagoon trials with Granz.

  11. I wish he would run for state wide office so I could vote for him. He didn't waste a second to throw them out!
  12. Best Wishes, MG!
  13. As I've said, I've been reading this book and am almost done. Sure, you can read what you want in what Ratliff writes, but as this point in my jazz life, I'd like to learn some reality, some substance, and bypass intellectual bullshit. Regarding Coltrane saying he wanted to be a saint in 10 years... he was saying he wanted to be pure in thoughts and actions not that he wanted to be deified.
  14. I'm reading this also and am finding it a frustrating and vapid read. There scores of examples like the ones that Larry states above.
  15. Prayers, good vibes, healthy thoughts and other intangibles for George Cables.
  16. Yes Clifford, I was going to mention that session!
  17. Zoot had some ugly assed legs! PHOTOS HERE
  18. I have Vol.1 Mel had them professionally recorded, according to the liners he wrote.
  19. Looks like she's a natural blonde.
  20. That's the one with "These are Souful Days" on it, right? That tune is a bitch, and Lee's solo on that is quintessential Morgan!
  21. I saw in the paper that a "Marc Edwards" got one. I wonder if he's the drummer who played with Cecil?
  22. Same here, Ronald! All the best.
  23. Joe Locke & Kenny Barron do a duo version on:
  24. Another book that has many, many personal testimonies is: A honest and truthful record. And a harrowing one.
