  1. Moanin' Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers Patty Smith Group - Easter Bud Powell - (Bouncing with Bud) (XTRA)
  2. From the Henry Grimes website: Saturday, March 4th: Henry Grimes & Patty Waters, Kunstencentrum Belgie, Burgemeester Bollenstraat 54-56+, 35OO Hasselt, Belgium, + 32 (O)11 22 41 61, www.kraak.net/festival2006, belgie@skynet.be; Tuesday, March 7th: Henry Grimes & Patty Waters, Les Sept Lezards, 1O rue des Rosiers, Mo St. Paul (le Marais), Paris, France, + 33 (O)1 48 87 O8 97, www.7lezards.com, info@7lezards.com; Wednesday, March 8th: Henry Grimes & Patty Waters, Marc Fevre & Benedicte Bucher's gallery, 14 rue Jules Valles, 75O11 Paris, France, + 33 (O)1 43 73 53 46, MoratLaurent@yahoo.com; That should be interesting!
  3. Interesting - I recall reading that the film had something to do with the Living Theatre, but wasn't sure if it actually was completed and released. On the OC with lyrics front, I've heard the Merrill version (beautiful) and Patty Waters also did "Lonely Woman," albeit with lyrics she wrote herself (also beautiful). The latter is on Marzette Watts' Savoy LP. Also have very few problems with Yoko Ono. She's an interesting artist and seems like a cool lady, from someone I know who works with her.
  4. No changes in diet. I am prepared to accept that Gracie had a seizure - though I really wish we could afford a visit with the vet at least for a consult but since we found a very cheap way to take care of their rabies vaccinations and heartworm tests recently, that's not going to happen unless something else medical pops up. But I have a very hard time with the idea that Coltrane was reacting to something that took place five hours later, or that he did so without once looking at Gracie, checking Gracie out (which he does all the time because when he's giving her kisses and finds a skin blemish from her allergies, he's all over it) or having anything to do with Gracie when it happened. On top of that, it was a classic extreme submission reaction, from a dog who doesn't submit to anyone. As for the question of "nothing much happening" for so long before this started, you shouldn't necessarily be surprised. For instance, its common that activity starts or radically increases, when a house undergoes renovations. Something about spirits being disturbed when "their" home is changed. No, we haven't done any renovating but I have a better example of sudden appearance of activity. Patty has a co-worker who has been living in the same apartment for a couple of years. There were one or two "strange" things happening but now Patty is trying to help this lady out because, out of the blue, activity has really spiked, and their activity is much more aggressive than anything we've had (as in, boyfriend being attacked in bed, feelings of suffocation plus bed sheets that are pulled tight around him, other things). And ironically enough, in January, the woman was concerned that the spirit was following her because she told the same story I did - her pants were tugged while she was on a ladder at work. She came to the front of the store and asked if someone had done it because she thought someone was playing with her. But no one did. (And let me repeat that this happened in January, so it doesn't explain what happened to me in December).
  5. The Patty McGovern tune that appears on The Workshop Of The George Wallington Trio & Eddie Costa Trio , is the ballad , Your Laughter . Patty returned the favor by recording George's Summer Rain (heard on his first Prestige recording) for her Atlantic debut . It , and Matt Dennis' Will You Still Be Mine , were not on the original Wednesday's Child LP , but were added as bonus cuts for the CD reissue .
  6. Four new, free, lo-fi downloadable cell phone recordings from a Plano living room have been added here https://soundcloud.com/summusic-3 Hey Joe (Where Ya' Goin' With That Book In Your Hand) - An improvisation inspired by some of the characters in Joe Milazzo's recent novel Crepuscule With Nellie. Inspired writing proved to inspire some playing! Joe's book is not in any way an easy read, but damn, it's a good one. Goin' Inta' TOWN In Tha' Morenin' - Originally made famous by Pee Pie Patty and The Pot Pie Plenty on their hit album "Five'll Get Ya' Ten (and Ten'll Get Ya' Twenty)..at least that's what I wrote on the lead sheet. The song was written with - and still has - lyrics, and also has a still-evolving mythology revolving around a supernaturally-inclined deep-(farthest)backwoods people who only take their children into town once in their lifetime, so it's a big deal for everybody. MAOHOUND!!! - Another compositional improvisation on the "CHOWHOUND" theme. Sometimes we play the tune "as is", sometimes we use it as a reference point for group improv. The latter is the case here. I really like improvising on a theme rather than a "song", there's so many ways to look at it that way, intervals, rhythmic motifs, harmonic pivots, all that "technical" stuff that nobody cares about. Dance Hippiechick, DANCE!!! - This one goes waaaay back to Quartet Out, but it was never commercially recorded, and besides, you know how long-lived bands can get, certain tunes become "functional" in terms of purpose, set placement, etc. Back then, it was written and performed as kind of a tongue-in-cheek (in terms of title, anyway) "Jimmy Giuffre Meets Charles Lloyd On Chico Hamilton's Bandstand" kind of "relief from the intensity" thing, and more or less stayed there, although with QO, things always ended up getting frisky in spite of intent. But I wanted to revisit the essential concept with this trio, and see if we couldn't open it up/out a little more, and I think we're doing that. I've given the responsibility for setting the mood and time to Carl with an opening solo that he can do with as he pleases. This time, he stuck his bow in his strings and started making kinda like Ysabel's Belly Dance or something, which was a complete surprise, but also allowed for a really good zone to subsequently develop. Him & Andrew are both a perpetual joy to play with, open minds, infinite patience, and an enthusiasm for playing music as music and not as a gig. That is too freakin' scarce around these parts, believe me. As a side note, for the 3.01 date, we were between snowstorms, and on the 3.31 date, I had the AC on. Life in the Texas weather, gotta love it. Or at least deal with it. Thanks in advance to anybody who takes the time to listen/download/conversate, etc. The recordings are lo-fi indeed, but I think the music is worth at least twice what I'm asking you to pay for it.

  8. Reminds me of the infamous "STORM WATCH 2004" reports we get here when it rains. Anchor: "Now let's go to Bruce Martin live on the scene" Reporter: "Thanks, Patty. Well, like you said it's raining, Whoaaa!!!, did you see that, that was lightning. The dust, my God the dust". Anchor: "Bruce, it looks windy as well". Reporter: Yes, Patty it is windy, and it's strong, see my hair flapping around?. Anchor: I do, Bruce......, Bruce......, can you hear me? Reporter: Yes I can, Patty. "If you will notice I am standing in a puddle up to the soles of my shoes. The Phoenix Police Department would like to remind all citizens to stay home unless it's absolutely necessary to be out. Anchor: Thanks Brice, try and stay dry. Reporter: Ha Ha Ha Anchor: We'll check back with Bruce in 3 minutes for the latest update. B-)

Sun Ra - Some Blues But Not the Kind that's Blue (Atavistic) $5 no obi, great 70s session Alexander Von Schlippenbach - Piano Solo '77 (FMP) $10 fantastic mind-expanding solos Patty Waters - The Complete ESP-Disk Recordings (ESP) $7 fantastic compilation of music from College Tour and Patty Waters Sings, now oop. Tx.
  10. Also to be fair I don't think Plant has got the chops to sing early Led Zep anymore. In the Band of joy tour, the few LZ covers he performed were backed up by Patty Griffin . As it was mentionned Plant has done as well creatively outside the band and doesn't need to do museum rock and should stick to his guns.

  12. Here are a few more, the list may not be "well-informed" only because I'm not a huge follower of jazz vocals... but these four I find extraordinary. All of Jeanne's and Patty's work is major, of course. Sheila Jordan - Portrait of Sheila Patty Waters - You Thrill Me Jeanne Lee w/ Ran Blake - The Newest Sound Around John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman
  13. Well, that does it--no "Waltz for Three People." I'm obviously odd man out since I haven't been able to free myself of Demon Tobacco. The two of you would be into your most creative contortions while I was negating my libido with a smoke break. I don't even think my Quadra Ionic Breeze can salvage this action. (BTW, my last ex, also an ex-smoker, gave the contraption to me as a last-ditch effort to save our marriage. I fumbled her noble gesture badly when, in deference to her HIGH-TONED INTERIOR DECORATIVE SENSE, I asked her where to put it. Her reply was not sexually stimulating--at least to me. It seems I am doomed to contemptuous misconstruction of my earnest attempts to place the female objects of my affection ON A PEDESTAL.) Your replies tend to ramble, Patty, so maybe that's why I'm not always sure what you're trying to say, nor do you always seem to know what I'm saying. The sofa-sized painting was of a HAIRLESS FEMALE NUDE. I fantasize it as YOU. Your suggestion that I lust after dogs is a new low, worse than the insinuation that (gay) Tennessee Williams and I share a prism through which we view women. And what's your problem with plaid anyway? Is it only shirts and sofas or a BLANKET distaste? As for your chosen birthplace, it's a perfect refuge for monarchists, aliens of dubious legality and draft-dodgers. The problem is when they and their descendants presume to interject their irrelevant opinions into serious geopolitical (read U.S.) discussions. I'm sorry, DEEP. I thought we were onto something with Patty, but she's just too ill-tempered and SHY--COY--DISINGENUOUS--SELF-ABSORBED--REMOTE--SELF-PITYING...am I getting warm?...but really, Patty, I'm just passive/aggressively FUNNIN' YA!
  14. CAREFUL WARNING! This is the kind of lingo that gets DEEP all randy. Keep your speech pure as the driven Manitoba snow, Patty. conn, (a linguist), You're onto something there. I know Patty is pure as the driven snow but hope the fuck she's capable of drifting a little. I am aroused thinking about what is the enevitable................... .....The Groper and Patty spending a weekend in that log cabin dressed in scuba gear, eating out of dog dishes...WhoooOOOOEEEEEEEE !! GO FOR IT *THE GROPER* !! DEEP
  15. PATTY, PATTY, PATTY, When you're dining out with Prince Charming (aka Mr. Right) and he looks across the table into your eyes as he's doing a puppet show with the LOBSTER CLAWS... .....THE WHEAT AND CHAFF WILL HAVE GONE THEIR SEPERATE WAYS....DUH!! Until such time said Puppet Show occurs might I suggest you go easy on your vibrator (what is it you named it??....STUDLEY HUNGWELL??). Canadian electricity is at a premium. Was STUDLEY the reason for last year's blackout!!??? YOU SHUT THE WHOLE FUCKING NORTHEAST DOWN WHILE FLAILING AND THROBBING WITH *STUDLEY* !! DEEP ( I have to stay permanently fucked up) DAMN!! Did I single-handedly [so to speak] cause the East Coast power failure and is that common knowledge?? I blush. I haven't chosen names for any of my household appliances. Should I?? I don't name my plants either. But, I have been known to speak softly and seductively to my rhodedendron, when he seemed a little limp. He perked up almost immediatly. I like to think my words of encouragement and firm but gentle stroking, directly on his leaves helped.
  16. 17. Problem with that, DEEP, is that you would end up ruling out new blood like, say, GROPE. If a secret thread already existed, how would new posters like GROPE learn about it? Conn (a linguist), Is there a football game on and you're speed reading?? Extracted from my post:It would then be left to the select few to pass on the info to trustworthy constituents. In short: Posters would have to prove themselves worthy of admission. WOW !! Patty, I think you're missing a few participles in that run-on sentence re Gerbil Insertion. That horseshit came from one boring asshole poster at the WOD's named Thelil..one of the most unfunny cats ever to frequent a website. DEEP Maybe a bad example. My intent was to ask whether this proposed thread would be like a "Hustler" of the site. If you want to have a special room to discuss subjects I have no interest in, I won't post, nor, I assume will anyone else who has nothing to contribute. What is this need that some seem to have to have somewhere that they can talk about things that they obviously consider so vile that it's assumed that everyone will be shocked and disgusted by them?? Has this suddenly turned into a prospective haven for what some consider a world of depravity, to which only the chosen few would have access to exchange ideas???? This presupposes that you and a dozen or so others, who already post on the site already would let loose with language and ideas which are too terrible for any but them to deal with. My original comment stands and that is that if a subject doesn't interest a member, they don't have to post on the thread. How difficult is that??? DEEP is shutting the door on Patty, and she's got her foot in it and fighting tooth and nail to keep it open... Really, Patty, just ask DEEP and say, "Pretty please....." and perhaps he'll let you in.
  18. Peppermint Patty Boss Spearmint () Charlie Postlewaite
  19. Conn (a Linguist), You are way off the beam there Pal O' Mine. Patty likes to come on like "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" or better yet..."I REMEMBER MAMA"....but that ain't the real shit. Patty's guise is the guise of Moscow. She takes great pleasure in luring horny cats "OUT OF THE CLOSET" (there's that phrase again, Christiern) and then like a Black Widow Spider she kills her lover. Oh yeah, she's done it to me before. She is the reason I got blown out of the WOD's (WEBMISTRESS OF DEATH) and she pushed my button at ALLABOUTGIZZ until I snapped. She's clever AND vicious. She has now managed to wrap B-3 around her finger too. I can only imagine the personal E mails goin' on between Christiern, B-3 and Patty. That Christiern is a real Commie too. It's proven by that fact he changed his status to ANONYMOUS just so he would be stealth hence demuring to the real topics and running to B-3 like a PULING SPASTIC. Things get a lot clearer for me around the 4th week into the dry season. DEEP
  20. But we want to HEAR Patty. Patty, PLEASE come back! I don't want to be left here all alone with a lecher and a lecher-in-hibernation... Conn (a linguist), I'm with you on the return of Patty. I just want her to grasp what the fuck this thread is about...AND IT AIN'T ABOUT MUSIC. IT'S ABOUT *THE NAKED PRETZEL*, LEAPING UP AND DOWN ON EACH OTHER, SINNIN', DRUGGIN', BOOZIN', KILLIN' SANDCHUCKS, WAVING OLD GLORY, BURYIN' THE *REGIMENTAL STAFF* FOR THE HONOR OF THE REGIMENT, ORGASMS, CLIMAXES, FAG BASHIN', ANYTHING THAT IS NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT...DIG?? THAT'S WHY IT'S HERE...IT'S TO LET IT ALL HANG OUT. NO ONE CAN BE OFFENDED BECAUSE IT'S MARKED OFF LIMITS TO THE THIN SKINNED. IN SHORT: IT'S THE BACK O' THE BUS !! IT'S *NOT* A PENTECOSTAL CARAVAN !! DEEP
  21. Open Call for Patty's Return: Come back Patty! How could you desert a thread frequented by people like DEEP and the GROPER? This is a thread about libidos and the RIGHT view of the world, but I'm sure you could feel free to discuss the ontology of their nicknames. I do agree with DEEP that the chatter about jazz nicknames was wearing thin; in fact I didn't even read em. I was too busy speed reading for prurient comments; kinda like looking for diamonds in a pile of dung, or looking for the red M&M in a pile of browns and yellows. But your goodnature and friendliness came through all that boring stuff you wrote about, Patty; and we need you to return. Don't leave me here alone with those two lechers! In short: we ask for the return of our QUIET NEIGHBOR TO THE THE NORTH.
  22. "Has there ever been a more white, middle-class show than Friends?" Well, not if you don't count Leave It To Beaver, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, Our Miss Brooks, The Andy Griffith Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Patty Duke Show, Family Affair, The Brady Bunch, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Happy Days, etc.
  23. I too have picked up that very album (literally), thought about it, and put it back. The Patty Bown, I haven't noticed.
