Gary Burton & Keith Jarrett (Atlantic). I get the impression that I'm one of the three people in the jazz community who like this album.

Either there's just one more besides us or else there's four...

Don't like it as much as I used to, but still, it was a "hit" back in its day (at least where I was) and not without some reason. Maybe its one of those "you had to be there" things, with the "there" being a certain kind of still-impressionable mindset, but hey, that's where I was, so...

Also, a look-back at what Atlantic was up to, what with Burton coming to the label from RCA, & Jarrett already there via Charles Lloyd/Vortex/The Label Itself. This was actually considered "jazz rock", and it appealed as such. What a difference 40 years makes, eh?

Grow Your Own, What was that supposed to mean?

Must dig this out . Relatively recent purchase which hasn't had extensive listening. I recall thinking it pretty good .

Others have joined you, but were Gary and Keith the other two you originally thought of?

Basie Jam #3 (Pablo)

I'm normally not a big fan of Granz's jam sessions, but this one fit perfectly into my life tonight (with the exception of an overwrought Joe Pass solo on the last tune). Even though this record was recorded in 1976, it has the feel of a session from 35-40 years earlier where the musicians were playing for their own enjoyment.

Hm, the presence of Joe Pass on an infinity of Pablo sessions was an instant 'ignore' message for me. It seems I've missed quite a bit of good music, that way (though Joe Pass is still a big turnoff - apart from his early recordings with McCann, Holmes, G Wilson & Bostic.

Yeah - even if Granz or Basie didn't want to go with the obvious (Freddie Green), there are a number of guitarists who would have fit in better on this date than Mr. Pass. That said, his presence doesn't spoil the record for me.

I think that's probably the thing. I thought he would, but maybe he wouldn't. Your post made me wonder about that.

Use Im Translator and if you read no sales abroad, well sent an email and ask why he discriminate you. ( in 99,99% this will be enough )
