jcam_44 Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Oliver Nelson - The Blues and the Abstract Truth nice $5 find. It's a reissue but looks like it was never played. Quote
Homefromtheforest Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Freddie Hubbard "open sesame" (Blue Note, King Japan) Can "Tago Mago" (united artists, Germany) record 1; even after 20+ years of owning this album I still find record 2 a bit indulgent Quote
Homefromtheforest Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Just starting: Ralph Towner "solstice" (ECM, Germany). One of my favorites on the label (of many admittably). Quote

kh1958 Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Benny Moten, Kansas City Jazz volume 1 (RCA ten inch), and Muggsy Spanier and His Dixieland Band (Emarcy ten inch). Surprising to me that RCA released a 10 inch LP of Benny Moten's music. There apparently are three volumes. This one is material recorded in 1926-27. The sound is very good. The label is "X" "A Product of Radio Corporation of America." Quote
paul secor Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 I wouldn't have thought there was a market for one volume, let alone three. There evidently was someone at RCA who was a jazz lover/fan back then. Quote

Jacket has sticker from A. Harris & Co. Record Shop, and a handwritten price, $3.85. Edited June 8, 2015 by kh1958 Quote

It's hard to find ten inch LPs in decent shape, but both of these are mostly damage free. Quote

Larry Kart Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Next is this, to help me make a decision on the Mosaic Box ... Buy the Mosaic box. In addition to everything else, a fine set of liner notes from Loren Schoenberg, especially insightful on Dave Tough. Quote
