Is this a new one? How do you find it?

It is and I'm tempted to say "organic" as per our last discussion in which she appeared.

It's fundamentally more of the same, a bit more song based rather than concept based, which I took the last one to be. Small group of musicians, some lovely singing. Terrific track with her parents singing. I find it quite joyous and life-affirming but then I'm in much need of that at the moment so may not be the same for others.

It might be one that appeals as I think you thought the last was a bit studied, I may be misremembering that bit.

I'm pleased I booked for the Barbican show in the autumn sometime. I want to be in the same room as that voice.

Now onto:

Nice all star session, it seems that it was a gathering of artists who had played with Bird (Stitt with Howard McGhee, Walter Bishop, Tommy Potter and Klook).

Very nice album for the small hours.

I always did like Walter Bishop also, but was a bit disappointed by his version of "Satin Doll". It sounds more like a cocktail pianist, not really as the great Bud-influenced Bish, who didn´t copy Bud and had a lot of his own. I like him much more on let´s say his wonderful piano on Dizzy Reece´s "Soundin´Off".

so glad this one was selected for the TP series. I just love Andrew Hill. I could definitely see why Matthew Shipp mentioned him in his ‘Black Mystery School Pianists.’

A true original on the instrument.

Serge Chaloff - Blue Serge (Capitol). Spinning the new Tone Poet LP. I love this album so I just had to get this new cut to see how it came out. So far, I'm digging it a lot. Great bass on this but that's to be expected with a Kevin Gray Tone Poet LP. He definitely pushes the limits for bass response for these LP cuts.
