That Kenton Presents series is nice... somehow, I don't like what Affinity did with the covers, so I am trying to find the originals... which takes a bit longer...  but when I find one - like last week in Utrecht the Cooper album - I am always happy

The Affinity reissues of the two Frank Rosolino LPs from the Kenton Presents series matched the originals somewhat better.

BUT ... don't you agree that what Affinity did with the covers of the reissues of the Bethlehem LPs (reissued at about the same time) was much, much worse? ;) It's only their availability and affordability that saves them ...

yes, that is true... then again, especially for RCA, the originals are actually almost as cheap as those reissues, only a bit scarcer... and since space is an issue here...

I'd really love to hear the Harold Land tack to find out whether it is a different take than the one issued on the "This Is The Bues" compilation on Pacific Jazz.

According to JEPSEN it is a different take. The one on JWC-512 is listed as the alternate take.

The other one (the "master take", then) is listed by Jepsen and Bruyninckx as being the one on "Swingin' Like 60" (WL-1289) but only Jepsen lists PJ-13 (This is The Blues) for this take as well.

Thanks! Lord, as often in such cases, lists only one take for all issues. But he can't listen to all of them ..... Richard Bock was a bitch.

An underrated record. Everything gels perfectly on this session. Edwards and McGhee create perfect lyrical solos, the rhythm section is superb. Vogue UK mono, inherited from my Dad. I have a US original too, love it so much.

It could be a different take because the playing time on my vinyl  is 5:39.

On this is the blues the track duration is 4:48.

However it is known that Richard Bock sometimes did change the track lenght if needed to get a song on a different release. So to be certain you need both editions.
