sidewinder Posted May 7, 2015 Report Posted May 7, 2015 Thad & Mel CD5. Still one of my favourite Mosaics.. Quote
Clunky Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Monk-------- At the It Club----- ( LP4 Mosaic ) Gallop's Gallop just finished playing. A bit of a mess but it has that edge as a result. I had the French 2CD set which mirrored the original release. I miss it's editing but not it's sound, which was muddy. This Mosaic set really has as much of Monk's quartet as you might need. Great tunes, well recorded. Quote
B. Goren. Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 CDs 2 & 3. Les McCann sounds great!!!! Quote

Clunky Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 Chu Berry set --------discs 3 and 4 Unfailing good set. I'd have like a little more surface noise to give some added crispness to the high end. Don't get me wrong , it sounds fine but having heard 78s of some of this material there is more life to be heard if you're prepared to hear some surface noise. None the less high enjoyable set. Quote

Gee, thanks for the reminder. 30 years ago. Man! The Brooks was the first Mosaic I ever purchased. Yep, they were already nearly 20 years old by the time I finally picked this up. Mosaic wasn't even on my radar at the time this set was issued - quite obscure and difficult to get hold of in the UK in the pre-internet days. Not to mention very expensive ! Don't remember ever seeing any Mosaics for sale in Canada either, which is sort of suprising - although having said that I rarely saw any old Blue Notes there either.
