Yeah, I guess so... but my Pullen and Richards finds were quite unique as well, it seems.

Anyway, after a while of being annoyed, there comes the time where rationality kicks back in and I start thinking I paid a bit too much for some of these, after all...

Finally up to Disc 6..

Overall... okay not great... Very uneven... :crazy::angry: :angry:

I didn't expect as many vocals.... :tdown

The George Lewis sessions from The Atlanic New Orleans Jazz Sessions. One thing I love about these Lewis recordings is that there are hardly any solos - when one horn takes the lead, the others will often keep playing secondary parts.

I'm taking it in small doses because the instrumentation and approach is so consistent disc to disc. I really like it, but an hour at a time is more than enough.

Glad you're enjoying it TM. Now it's time to get the Armstrong.

I used to be bonkers over this set, but I unfortunately overplayed it (along with the Blue Mitchell set). It's been about a year and a half since I've listened to it all the way through.
