Late Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago Carla Bley tribute/cover album. I'd never heard of Lluís Vidal. Check out Vidal's version of "Ida Lupino" in particular. Interesting spin. Quote
Niko Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago Nothing to do with Bley, but Vidal is the pianist on one of my favorite albums, the sole quartet Album of guitarist Sean Levitt Quote

Interesting spin. Thanks. That is indeed interesting. Even though it's a pretty radical deconstruction of the tune. I'm going to listen to the whole album. Quote
Patrick Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago I’m also a fan of a fairly recent CB tribute by Ben Allison, Steve Cardenas, and Ted Nash. https://stevecardenas.bandcamp.com/album/healing-power-the-music-of-carla-bley Ben discusses it a bit here: Quote
T.D. Posted 13 hours ago Report Posted 13 hours ago Thanks. Reminds me in some ways of the tune (from her last recording?) you included in a recent BFT. I should get more familiar with the (both?) album(s). Quote

And if, like maybe a lot of people (myself included), you sorta stopped paying attention after a certain point, there are plenty of delightful examples that you were wrong for that. Very wrong. Love it when that happens! Quote
