JSngry
Like, if somebody breaks in your house and thinks that they're going to rule your world for a little while by cutting your phone lines, guess what? They're S.O.L!

Kalo
Screenwriters HATE cell phones. Though rather than cutting or pulling out the wires as in days of old, couldn't the villain just crush the damn phone under his or her heel? Jazzmoose
Hope you disabled vibration alarm ... Reminds me of a story told to me by a friend who works in a call center. A woman in Hawaii called up and demanded that her phone be exchanged because it was possessed by a demon! It would dance across the table at will. You can guess what the problem was... MoGrubb
I'm thinking of taking the cell phone plunge, in lieu of the land line to boot. They seem to have proved to be fairly reliable, and they're mighty convenient. Thanks to everybody for testing them for me!
