Aggie87 Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Anybody notice the EMI snuck out a new Norah Jones release a couple weeks ago? It's called "The Little Willies", and is a more countryfied Norah than her previous releases. Guess that's why it's not on BN, but on "Milking Bull Records" Band is: Norah Jones - piano, vocals Richard Julian - guitar, vocals Jim Campilongo - electric guitar Lee Alexander - bass Dan Rieser - drums Quote
Alexander Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 I got it. Norah only sings lead on about half the disc. The rest of the time she's on harmony vocals. It's quite good. I can hear it getting a lot of play at Starbucks. The last track, "Lou Reed," is a hoot... Quote
catesta Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 It's quite good. I can hear it getting a lot of play at Starbucks. There is reason enough to not want to buy it. Seriously, I heard some sound samples on cduniverse. The samples didn't do much for me. It's probably produced by MusicBoy. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Jim Campilongo is a verrrry good guitarist in the rockabilly/country vein. Does he get much of a chance to play on this one? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 So what's with the title? Do all the guys on the cd have........................................ Quote
catesta Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Is she still Ravi Shankar's father? Second cousin on her mother's side. Quote
Alexander Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 (edited) So what's with the title? Do all the guys on the cd have........................................ The band was formed as a Willie Nelson cover-band. The album is still heavy on classic country covers, but they've branched out to include Hank Williams and Kris Kristofferson as well as a few originals. In answer to Jim C's question, there is a lot of very nice guitar work on the disc... Edited April 1, 2006 by Alexander Quote
Chalupa Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Looks like Norah has been busy.... http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2006...l_nyc_pics.html and http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2006...e_delancey.html Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 and "Sucker" going a bit Sonic Kim on us! Quote
mikeweil Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Guess that's why it's not on BN, but on "Milking Bull Records" Them Blue Notes would have made the milk turn sour ..... Little Willies, Milking Bulls - this is all so cheap ...... If it's more country, she at least gets to sound like her real self. Quote

Late Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Hey ... how come Norah's new album (to be released December 5th) is entitled Not Too Late? I mean, she came over once, we had some decaf, I played all my Cecil Taylor records ... I don't get it. Quote
