JSngry
Personal Statement Label: P.J.L. Catalog Number: MTCJ-1050 Import from JAPAN Tracks: 1. Introduction 2. Statement 1 3. Statement 2 4. Statement 3 5. Statement 4 6. Statement 5 RT says that this is a Japanese reissue of Marsh's December 15, 1987 recording, not available domestically. I find no mention of this album nor this date anywhere in Marsh discographies, on AMG, or anywhere else. So, what did I just buy? As always, thanks in advance. relyles
I will check the discography in the Marsh bio, An Unsung Cat later and see if it has any info. In any event, have you listened to it yet? If so, what is the personnel and more importantly, how is it?
Michael Fitzgerald
No mention in the Chamberlain book - if the date is correct, this was like 2 days before he died! Mike
JSngry
Just ordered it this morning. I'll post a report when it arrives. The date is morbidly intriguing if accurate.

John L
It is apparently the last thing that Warne Marsh ever recorded in a studio. JSngry
Actually, I think it him recording his practice at home, I think this is the one that was rumored to have been removed from his home by some unscrupulous character in the wake of his sudden and unexpected death. John L
Actually, Warne Marsh died on December 18, 1957. So it was recorded 3 days before his death, most likely the last Warne on record. Edited August 25, 2022 by John L

I think the reason many of us miss it is precisely why it's gone - they used to sell Japanese imports priced well below anyone else. They had to be losing money on those things. I remember getting in Japanese CDs with $28 price stickers on them and thinking, "How are they selling this to me for $10"?

Ken Dryden
Supposedly Warne Marsh was playing “Out of Nowhere” when he died suddenly in the midst of his set. I miss Red Trumpet, too. Is Eastwind Import winding down? They don’t seem to be restocking anything and their discount is now 60%.
