Now on disc 2 Calloway is AMAZING! This set keeps revealing new stuff to me, every time I give it a listen - and that's fairly frequently. MG Quote
jeffcrom Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Ornette Coleman - Beauty is a Rare Thing: Complete Atlantic Recordings. I'm listening to all the July, 1960 tracks (with Cherry, Haden & Blackwell) which were not released at the time on This is Our Music. Pretty amazing - plenty of stuff here is every bit as good as the music they picked at the time. Quote

jeffcrom Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 Duke Ellington - Centennial Edition (RCA). Disc 16, from 1946. I hate the internal design of the box - my CDs slide all over the place - and the booklet fell apart within a week, but this is still one of the cornerstones of my collection. Quote
