I'm listening to:

Rober Cobert - House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows

Les Baxter - Black Sunday and Baron Blood

James Bernard - The Devil Rides Out (a collection of music from Hammer films).

Have also been spinning some Morricone giallo scores.

One year I had Albert Ayler's "Witches and Devils" playing for the benefit of the trick-or-treaters. The first little girl (about 6 years old) who came to the door started crying when she heard it. I shut it off quickly.

Not jazz, but every year I put my CD boombox out front and play the Ventures "Fear (Main Title theme from 'One Step Beyond')" from the IN SPACE album. Gets lots of compliments for its eerie sound.

Maybe I'll dress up as Phil Spector, LTB as Cher, and answer the door with this playing...

That's a real record, btw. Spector recoded a few sides with Cher @ the peak of her 70s fame, pretty scary stuff all by itself, but knowing the whole Spector backstory now...nothing says BOO! like Homicidally Inclined Psychotically Frustrated Megalomania!!!

This year I went with Andrew Hill's Dance with Death, a little creepy at times but not too scary.

I was spinning this, as well as Black Fire and Smokestack, as the little kiddies came to the door. Didn't seem to scare them away...

'Trick or Treaters' on a spit over a large fire.

Ranks with McDonalds, Starbucks and syphilis as one of the more unwelcome imports from the Americas.

Thanks to Simon Cowell & Elton John, we're still running at a deficit, though.

But you really should try a McGriddle (the syrup's baked in ya'know) and, while they're available, the McRib, which is one of those rare foods about which it can be said that deconstruction is not only undesirable, but also impossible.

McDonalds is to food what tires are to peaches!

(and really sorry about the syphillis thing...you'd think that with all the inbreeding an immunity would have been developed my now, but I guess not!)
