Man, I checked out that Alphonso Blackwell thing that was hyping all the "dance grooves", and DAMN was I not impressed.

You guys ever heard of Masters at Work? Now, that's dance music you can listen to with as much engagement as you can dance to. For that matter, ther's any number of good house producers who lay down grooves suitable for improvising over. Unfortunately, from the samples I just heard, none of them are currently in your employ.

Not wishing anybody any ill will or anything, far from it, but please stop making music that has no groove, no fluidity, no bounce, no grace or sensuality, and then calling it "dance" music.

PLEASE!

Yeah, but at least they were up front enough to cop to being a record label, user name "Utopia Record" instead of doing one of those ultra slimey "street team" things: "Hey everybody! Lately I've been really grooving to a super great saxophonist! She's really smooth, kind of a cross between Richard Elliot and Paul Desmond, but with a little Charlie Coltrane thrown in. Check out some of her sound clips at apoijalkjn.com. Anyone else into her?" :rhappy:

And I'm not nearly as opposed to the concept of "smooth jazz" as I am the actual results....

Substitute "free jazz" for "smooth jazz" and I'm with you..... <_<

Uh oh, a wink...a seemingly sincere friendly gesture...

Dude, I read the board and post in a " top down" order. So when you read a not-quite "winking" response I gave you in another thread "above" this one" keep that in mind ok?
