Europe 1 was very much jazz oriented at the time and taped a Prez broadcast with Oscar Dennard and René Urtreger in March 1959. The tape has not surfaced yet and since Europe 1 tends to ignore jazz altogether nowadays, there is very little chances that the session will reappear any time soon. Of course, very interesting music there. I should not have been surprised by the absence of Peiffer on those Piano Parade broadcasts since the show got its start at about the time he left for the United States! The CD will include music by Lester Young, Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Stéphane Grappelli, Blossom Dearie and others. Both from the October 13, 1956 'Jazz aux Champs-Elysées' concert at the Théatre de Chaillot. The INA disc also includes sides with René Thomas, Guy Lafite, Blossom Dearie, Lucky Thompson and also with Donald Byrd and Bobby Jaspar (with Jacques Diéval at the piano), Walter Davis Jr., Chet Baker with Catherina Valente, a Daniel Humair group (with Jimmy Deuchar, Roger Guérin and Derek Humble!), Stan Getz with Michel Legrand, Stéphane Grappelli and more... Thanks for catching this, bichos! Will include the full clip in my next DVD from INA. The accompanying text is wrong. This was not filmed during her dramatic appearance at the Olympia but a few days later (probably at le Moulin de la Galette) when she looked much better! They have some knowledge of french and managed to order without problems. Since you speak the language you should have no trouble at all getting what you want. The McLean is a bit short on time. I am sure you will find other items of interest in the INA jazz vaults to fill a DVD. The McLean by the way was not taped at Le Chat Qui Pèche... Looks more to me like a French TV/Radio studio! In fact, the picture has been taken during a reconstitution of the session, shot for the TV show "Cinépanorama". You can see the full video here You can see very clearly that Miles' lips are not synchronized with the music, and they are no other musicians around him. Very beautiful pictures, though! Oddly enough, some of these files are available at the Ina boutique, but do not appear when you type "Jazz aux Champs-Elysées" or the artist's name in the search field... These include four-hands piano performances by Diéval together with Blossom Dearie and Kenny Drew, a fabulous Quintet with Woody Shaw and Nathan Davis, a quartet performance with Pearcy Heath and two stunning solo piano pieces by Duke Ellington himself!
