ghost of miles Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Report from the New York Times: Clarence Clemons has passed away Edited June 19, 2011 by ghost of miles Quote
Matthew Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Sad news, too be sure. His sax througout "Born to Run" is an indelible memory of my teens. Quote
Chalupa Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 A bit of a shock. Everything that I had heard/read this week said that he was on the mend. RIP, Clarence. Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 RIP Clarence and might as well say RIP E Street Band. Quote
colinmce Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 To think of the obvious bond shared by him and Bruce makes this all the more sad. RIP indeed. Quote
mjazzg Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 provided the soul of the E.Street Band. A massive loss. Thanks for the great records and lve shows. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 A huge part of the sound of Bruce's early albums. To be honest, I've had little interest in Springsteen's music without Clarence and the E Sreet Band. RIP Big Man. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Rest in Peace is a certainty. Quote
mikelz777 Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Is there even an E Street? Yes. According to Wikipedia, "The (E Street) band took its name from the street in Belmar, New Jersey, where Sancious' (origiinal keyboardist) mother lived. She allowed the band to rehearse in her home." Quote

Oh...before Sancious moved on to better things. Along with Ernest 'Boom' Carter. E Street Band was a very different beast with Sancious than with Bittan. Very sorry to hear of The Big Man passing, it won't be the same. Thanks for the great memories and spirit. That's two down now (Danny Federici), we really are getting older... Quote
RDK Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 RIP Big Man. It won't - can't - ever be the same. Quote
