Max Peuk as Dutch poet, Parker fanatic, and record collector Jules Deelder calls him. Peuk means cigarette butt. In a marvellous passage about picking up a vinyl copy of the Quintet at Massey hall, he writes:

"...and yes, 'Jazz at Massey Hall,' with Charlie Yardbird O'Rooni, Diz The Wiz, Bud Powell, 'Fingus' Mingus, and Max Peuk. Wherever you are, you put it on, that record, and suddenly he is there, in the room with you. Who? My Sister Nola with her she-goat legs! Okay...?

I've always had a soft spot for Grachan Moncur III, but Peter & Pepi Lemer are pretty great too...

Of course, we can't forget the mysterious one-named percussionists:

Robidoo

Groentje (pronounced "Grain-chee")

Djibrill

Sahumba (AKA Raleigh Sahumba, but Sahumba for short)

Adeyeme

and:

Ostaine Blue Warner (another mysterious percussionist)
