GA Russell Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 RIP. I read the brothers' column every week. Quote
ejp626 Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 What a shame. I wasn't a regular listener, but my dad was and when I was visiting, we'd usually hear these guys on the radio. RIP Quote
JSngry Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 http://www.cartalk.com/blogs/staff-blog/tom-magliozzi-1937-2014 Tom Magliozzi who, along with his brother Ray, hosted NPR’s hit comedy show Car Talk for the last 37 years, died Monday morning from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. “Turns out he wasn’t kidding,” said Ray. “He really couldn’t remember last week’s puzzler.” Maybe the hardest I've ever laughed, uncontrollably was one call from a loooong time ago where a lady called in and said that a horse was trying to eat her truck, and did they think that maybe it was because the truck was green? Oh my god, I had tears rolling from laughing so hard! RIP, much love here. Quote
gmonahan Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Much love here too. I listened to the show regularly, and that marvelous laugh will be sorely missed. Didn't know about Tom's alzheimers. We really need to find a cure for that one. I ain't gettin' any younger. gregmo Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 RIP Tom. My thought to your family. Some of your great quotes I still remember. "If money can fix it, it's not a problem." “Never let the facts stand in the way of a good answer. "I like to drive with the windows open. I mean, before you know it, you're going to spend plenty of time sealed up in a box anyway, right?”” Quote
sonnymax Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 I am greatly saddened to hear of Tommy's passing. I've been a Car Talk fan for many years, and I continue to enjoy the rebroadcast of past shows. It's good to know that there are other people on the board who enjoyed his infectious laughter and appreciated his special kind of wit. I encourage folks to check out the free podcast of Car Talk at http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast/podcast_detail.php?siteId=9911203 Rest peacefully Tommy, and thank you. Quote
.:.impossible Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 Nowhere better to listen to these two than on a drive. What a vibe. Quote
catesta Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 Majorly bummed when I saw this scroll across the bottom of the screen last night. I found it impossible not to like them. Fuckin' alzheimers. Quote

catesta Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 I'd it's an MG by the looks of the dash lines. Quote
BeBop Posted November 5, 2014 Author Report Posted November 5, 2014 I enjoyed the frivolity so much, the fact that they actually knew something about cars was incidental. I'll miss the show very much. Quote
