clifford_thornton Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 There have to be some 4400 series or early LAxxx titles that haven't made it to CD. Sometimes I run into records from that era that I've never seem before and it's always a shocker. Quote
Son Of Ice Bag Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Waiting for Blue Note 4236: High Frequency/Jackie McLean Blue Note 4300: Collision in Black/Blue Mitchell on CD Quote
jazzbo Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 High Frequency was part of the Mosaic Jackie McLean Complete Blue Note '64 to '66. .. would be great if it were in print as a stand alone cd. Quote
Son Of Ice Bag Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Also looking for Blue Note 4339: Multidirection/Kenny Cox and the Contemporary Jazz Quintet (The Allmusic review awarded the album 4 stars !) Blue Note 4420: All The United States of Mind Phase 3/Horace Silver (here only 1 1/2 stars from Allmusic) on CD. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) Multidirection was released as bonus tracks to the "Introducing Kenny Cox" cd from 2007. Separate CD copies of "That Healin' Feelin'" and "Total Response" can be found on amazon.com US. I'm not certain "All" has had a cd issue on its own. All three were on cd in a two cd set from Blue Note USA, 2004 "United States of Mind"--also available via amazon.com US. Edited January 17, 2017 by jazzbo Quote

clifford_thornton Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 definitely deserves a standalone CD issue. I have it on a Japanese single LP. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 yeah, it is. I had a somewhat ratty copy of the twofer and replaced it last year with King pressings of the enclosed albums. Quote
romualdo Posted May 26, 2017 Report Posted May 26, 2017 (edited) What about (not technically BN's?) 1. Fats Sadi (BN 10" 5061) was originally a Vogue 10" -> Japanese release? 2. Cool Britons (Aces Anonymous or Mike Nevard's Melody Maker All Stars)(BN 10" 5052) one title released on Avid CD 928 (Cleo Lane/John Dankworth). Lord Discog also mentions some of these titles were released on Atlantic LP 2 (no record of this LP in my searches) -> have the Japanese done this one? Edited May 26, 2017 by romualdo Quote

I was once told that the Fats Sadi date was only licensed by Blue Note for that 10" LP, which was why it was never released on a Blue Note CD. Edited May 26, 2017 by Kevin Bresnahan Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted May 26, 2017 Report Posted May 26, 2017 Ah, that was one I was going to ask about too. Thanks for the explanation. That explains why a very, very advanced collector (who has a huge collection, compared to which mine is next to nothing) was all anxious to borrow my copy (when he learned I had that Fats Sadi 10" LP ) to burn a CD-R (for himself and who knows who else ...). So I now have not only that 10" but also a CD-R to save spinning my original. Quote

I have no idea how the Japanese arm of Blue Note was able to reissue that LP, but they did. It's actually a nice date. Quote
