And I can certainly hear how when that B-Team was playing their own game on their home turf that they could indeed be more than a little dangerous. Nothing about these records in any way plays to those circumstances. But oh well about that, that's what happened, here and there. Quote

JSngry Posted June 5, 2020 Author Report Posted June 5, 2020 OJC CD With lyrics and the right singer, "Afraid Of Love" could become a modern-day (sic) "saloon song". The whole records reminds me that Duke Person & Stanley Turrentine were not the only people who could make a record of this sound and feel (and Teddy not only served both functions, he just needed two additional horns!) - but that maybe Rudy was the only one who could get the record to sound like tat, No matter - it's a darn good record! Jim Duckworth Posted June 5, 2020 Report Posted June 5, 2020 Yet another record that younger me failed to appreciate fully, and that older me is enjoying quite a bit. Quote
JSngry Posted June 5, 2020 Author Report Posted June 5, 2020 OJC jacks up the sequencing of the original LP, which kinda also jacks up the mood of this quite mood-y album, but that's fixable enough. Quote
Pim Posted June 5, 2020 Report Posted June 5, 2020 With Mal Waldron, Fred Braceful and Raoul Walton. Did not knew this guy but I am pleasantly surprised. Nice funky modal playing. Braceful is in prime form! Quote
