His rhythm section on this one is fabulous! If you can't find it, I'll PM you a link. Also to Experience 001. MG Hey, that's great. Thanks. I have The Horse The Man and The Boy? by Obey and "his international bros" on vinyl, which I love. That one sounds great as well from the video I found. It's going to get ordered! Quote

I don't know where you can get it ordered. Do tell, please. There's probably others I could get, as I've only 39 Obey albums MG Quote

Oh right, Discogs is too far away for the postman for me nowadays. MG Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted December 30, 2020 Report Posted December 30, 2020 Ray Charles - The Genius After Hours (MFSL SACD). Ray playing some of his finest blues. I really should pick up the companion date, "The Great Ray Charles", one of these days. Quote
gmonahan Posted December 30, 2020 Report Posted December 30, 2020 Can't get enough of Mr. Five By Five. This one has a version of "Tricks Ain't Walkin' No More," one of the odder pieces in Rushing's oeuvre!! Quote
Rabshakeh Posted December 30, 2020 Report Posted December 30, 2020 (edited) Peter Brötzmann and Han Bennink - Schwartzwaldfahrt (FMP, 1977). Edited December 30, 2020 by Rabshakeh Quote
Justin V Posted December 31, 2020 Report Posted December 31, 2020 I started to listen to Frank Kimbrough's Lonely Woman and realized that I didn't have the heart to listen to it it tonight. I went with Berkman instead. He flies under the radar, I think, but he is a fine pianist. Besides bringing in Tom Harrell on an increasingly rare sideman appearance (Harrell is also on Berkman's Handmade), you can't go wrong with Johnathan Blake and Ed Howard. Quote
jcam_44 Posted December 31, 2020 Report Posted December 31, 2020 William Parker and David Budbill - What I Saw This Morning purchased from AUM maybe the day before they updated their site. No longer see it listed. I feel very fortunate to have it. Quote

Decisions, decisions ... had never seen this but a visit to discogs told me its an MJR LP originally and a stroll to the stacks showed me I do own it (thank god for their red/black spines and the fact that I was buying a lot of those so I put them on the shelf together). But now I see three unissued tracks. I should probably spring for this, just wish it were free shipping on Amazon. Quote

Rabshakeh Posted December 31, 2020 Report Posted December 31, 2020 (edited) ErstLive 005 by Keith Rowe/Sachiko M/Toshimaru Nakamura/Otomo Yoshihide (ErstWhile, 2005). I loved this one when it came out, but I guess that nothing ages worse than yesterday's electronic improvisation. I can't see what I liked about it now. Now on to Ethan Iverson's Costumes Are Mandatory (HighNote, 2013). Lee Konitz' chemistry with Larry Grenadier is the main appeal of this one for me. I pulled it out mainly because the day it was released, I was in sunny Avignon at the theatre festival, and that's an appealing place to be, right now, from the point of view of icy 31 December 2020 London.
