Go Right Polish Jazz

That one brings back memories. I saw this band perform at the German Jazz Festival in Frankfurt. They were in town and they gave them a half hour time slot to play although they were not on schedule. Those were the days.

Definitly one of his best things. This and Filles de Kilijanjaro are favourites of mine. I remember that ostinato bass figure on side 2, all kids who could hold a bass guitar first tried to play that riff. Me too, I was a piano player but knew the basics of bass fiddle and so if somewhere there was a bass guitar around, I´d play that bass figure and other kid´s would say "wow!"

Scenes - Along the Way (Origin, 2006)

Working my way through the good-sized batch of Australian trad jazz I have (trad for want of a better term, but no Dixieland here) some from the '40s, most from the '50s -- the Bell Brothers, Dave Dallwitz, Ade Monsborough. etc. Every time I go there, I almost can't believe how good this music is. Dallwitz, for one, though his own man, is a composer in the Jelly Roll Morton class.

Ah, yes, I recall the name Lazy Ade.
