I listened to it three times yesterday. I'll be interested to read what JSngry makes of it. I also prefer her first album over subsequent releases Edited April 1, 2023 by mjazzg Quote

There's a lot going on, on many levels. It does betray the fact it's a live event where listening like this misses the visual input and impact. Rabshakeh Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 James Carter - In Carterian Fashion This one is surprisingly buried in Carter's catalogue. Some great playing on the second half. There's a Spencer Barefield tune in there! Quote

If the latter what were they? I am struggling to identify them. ------------------------------------------------------------- Arent you not familiar with the CAPITOL 15 volume series " Jazz Classics"? If you are interested I can scan the liner of that LP These are originals from 1948 so it might be from 78s, EP's and 10" sources. Highly interesting material- My favorite is the composition " Claude Reigns". Edited April 1, 2023 by jazzcorner more text Quote

A group of players that I had almost never heard of (the 4 Souls, not the sidemen here). Now on to this one: George Lewis – In Hi-Fi A lot of New Orleans R&B bounce in the sound on this one, for once. 3 minutes ago, jazzcorner said: Arent you not familiar with the CAPITOL 15 volume series " Jazz Classics"?
