mhatta Posted September 1, 2024 Report Posted September 1, 2024 I've never been an avid fan of Tom Harrell, but I happened to stream this new album and it is very good. It has a unique and contemporary flavor that is different from Harrell's previous work. I recommend a listen. Quote

I found it likeable and the sound was very clear - very well produced. Harrell's solos seemed unfocused and meandering and even at times seemed like noodling to me. And there was a sameness about everything, the overall sound and texture... all the angles have been smoothed out. Very little tension created and released. Not enough space. Well, that's one man's opinion. Edited September 1, 2024 by Stompin at the Savoy Quote
JSngry Posted September 1, 2024 Author Report Posted September 1, 2024 Is that a glare? I wouldn't blame him if it was. Produced by George Martin. Am I hearing contempt in the vocals here? Quote

Jim Duckworth Posted September 1, 2024 Report Posted September 1, 2024 Perfectly done. The sound is amazing, and the disc of the Creole Jazz Band's contemporaries provides context as few historical reissues have. Quote
