He brought even Stans band to swing like mad. Throughout Europe he directed many radio bigbands of the different countries as from Switzerland, Germany (WDR big band / radio Frankfurt big band/ radio Hamburg big band) and also in the Netherlands. A real giant he was. Edited October 4, 2024 by jazzcorner Quote

Funny... if this was released on one of Boris Rose's LPs, you couldn't sell it on discogs. But when Jordi puts it out on Fresh Sounds, it's fine. Still a bootleg. 1981 is way way out of the public domain is Spain, where this CD set was released. Too bad Sal's family couldn't get a cut of this. They could probably use it. Quote

Peter Friedman Posted October 4, 2024 Report Posted October 4, 2024 Walter Bishop Jr. - Midnight Blue Walter Bishop Jr. is , to my ears, one of the least interesting piano soloists of his generation. As a sideman, his playing tends, In my view, to be fine, but as a trio pianist his playing does not compare with a very large number of other jazz piano players and is frequently rather dull. Quote
