A Milestone. I love this album, I mean I had the LP and have the CD. Funny, because I started Miles in 1973/74 when I heard him live and was crazy about it, and then I started to listen also to the classic old albums "Filles de Kilimanjaro", "Silent Way" and "Bitches Brew". The good old days.

Starting off a nice cool morning with some old time music from various bands Jack Purvis led or played lead trumpet within. Purvis was a great trumpeter influenced by Pops, and I confess that over the years I’ve come to enjoy the 'twenties/early 'thirties dance and pop music as odd sounding as it is today.

Jazz Oracle is a great label–I have nearly every one of their releases.

A very 1962 (song choices) LP by Jack Teagarden for Verve, his last I think for the label.

Great band! Okay LP. . . could have been grittier. Maybe the band wasn’t “lubricated” enough.

Georghe, your comment about "The Good Old Days" made me laugh.

My approach to "The Good Old Days" is very different than for you. I begin to listen to Miles Davis in the 1950's.

No problem. But I was born in 1959, so it´s logic that the first Miles I could here was from 1973 on, when I became 14 and to develope my on thougts and my own stuff runnin´. So this was "the good old days" in my case 😉

 

Good choice that Kenny Burrell album. Sometimes I listen to it in the small hours when I get home. It´s a fine album to relax before taking a rest.....
